  1. Bottom of the 16th now and the Phillies still have a backup catcher on the bench but they left Baez, their last reliever, in to hit. He strikes out leading off the inning.
  2. Reds-Phillies now going to 15. I hope they play another 15.
  3. Beltran 3 Gee 1.5 Murphy 1.5 Reyes 1 Turner 1 Pridie 1 Tejada 1
  4. Solo Mets fan behind Cubs dugout giving standing O to Berg as he walks off the field: Cruel or unnecessarily cruel?

It's in the team's interest to settle quickly - prolonging the matter won't be in anyone's interest. I think you're right on the first part and wrong on the second. Not that I am an expert in California law but given the potentially large damages, it may well be in the Dodgers' (and/or their insurer's) interest to wait to see how the criminal proceedings play out; to see if Stow's medical condition improves, etc.
  6. The Second Spitter's BFF Mrs. Dillon Gee is featured in this article.
  7. Also: Stow family files lawsuit against the Dodgers.
  8. In that case, I absolutely withdraw the analogy (edit above).
  9. Ceetar wrote: Actually the little I've seen of them they're pretty boring. Except Rubin who basically runs around like a mad man talking to everyone and everything. C'mon, really?
  10. Carlos Pena is on first, having signed a 1 year, $10M deal in the offseason, coming over from Tampa (as a free agent, not in the Matt Garza deal). Carlos hit 144 homers over the last four seasons with Tampa but check out these numbers: .282/.411/.627 in 2007 .247/.377/.494 .227/.356/.537 .196/.325/.407 in 2010. Ouch. He's sitting at .216/.359/.360 this year, with 5 homers and isn't doing anything special with the glove either. Edit: oops, will wait for LWFS.

The bad signings of the past are only a burden if the team doesn't have the financial ability to recover from them.
  12. Reyes 1.5 Beato 1.5 Murphy 1 Beltran 1
  13. Harris 1.5 Pridie 1 Bay .5 Martinez .5
  14. If you are looking for help buying tickets please ask. There are a lot of regular game attendees here. What are your primary concerns - price? Seat quality? Date? There are indeed lots of deals to be found if you know where to look.
  15. Not good by Beltran but he's earned plenty of good will this year. Bay, on the other hand, is just atrocious. I say sit him and have Evans start a game or two in left.
  16. Couple of two run homers hurt us but a leadoff walk to Martinez gives us the tying run on base.
  17. Turner = awesome.
  18. Bay sacrifice fly puts us in the lead. At least it wasn't a strikeout.
  19. Bases loaded to start the game. Time to break this sucker wide open.
  20. Did you know that there is a St. Louis Cardinals version of the "Got Rings?" T-Shirt? In which the Cardinals' number of "rings" is compared to every other NL team? I too was flabbergasted the first time I was at Busch Stadium and saw that.
  21. Dickey 3.5 Turner 1.5 Murphy 1.25 O'Connor 1 Isringhausen 1 Rodriguez 1 Beltran .75
  22. I think he's technically MGIwM* so he's probably outta luck as well. *Western
  23. My first reaction when hearing the song was that there was very little family-friendly content in those lyrics. However, I remember hearing it on the radio (and the video on MTV -- remember those?) so I guess it's ok to play in the stadium. But still...
