  1. Put it in the books!
  2. Can they win 90 games (and avoid being the first Met playoff team to have fewer since 1973)? Can they win on the final day, for the fans, for pride, or simply to remind Washington who's boss? How will Jacob DeGrom do in his final warm-up start? Will they ever get a hit or score runs again? All these mysteries, and more, to be solved at 3:10 PM EDT today. (Whoops, didn't mean to edit the first post)
  3. They can't control years when the Yankees also finish first. The Mets had a better record and finished first in 2006.
  4. Kurt Abbott Chris Woodward Octavio Dotel Masato Yoshii Kenny Rogers Darren Oliver Chad Bradford
  5. Lenny Harris was on the '99 Diamondbacks
  6. I think we're looking at a doubleheader played Saturday in drizzle.
  7. Does not look promising that game will be played tonight. Courtesy National Weather Service: Today Rain. High near 56. Breezy, with a northeast wind 18 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tonight Rain. Low around 47. Breezy, with a northeast wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  8. Curtis Granderson. (and I chose the Apple pie as well)

  10. Angel Pagan
  11. I assume that's one of the voters who didn't actually select 25.
  12. I've got not problems looking past the Dodgers. I think we all understand the conditional nature of it. I would be most happy to see the Pirates have to face Jake Arietta in the wild card game and possibly get knocked out then.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Neiwy on the other hand can take Lagares' defensive assignments, pinch-runs every bit as well, has more Powa potential and unlike Lagares isn't stacked behind 3 or 4 others who have the same handedness -- just Johnson, really. Would you consider starting Lagares in the Kershaw game? Granderson, 2015 vs. LHP: .275 OBP, .288 SLG in 142 PAs Lagares, 2015 vs. LHP: .336 OBP, .444 SLG in 128 PAs. I think I want this lineup in against Kershaw: Flores SS Wright 3B Cespedes CF D'Arnaud C Cuddyer LF Duda 1B Lagares RF Murphy 2B

Basically, you're looking at a defensive replacement who wouldn't also be your 1st pinch hitter or 1st pinch runner. I have no problem seeing him as a pinch runner. The difference in speed between Lagares and Young is far smaller than the defensive gap between Lagares and Young. I suppose Nieuwenhuis is the player that splits the difference between the two.
  15. Another great job by the Colorado Rockies pounding the Dodgers 12-5 today. Dodgers' magic number remains at 2, but more importantly, the Mets have a 1.5 game lead over the Dodgers for home-field in the first round. Dodgers now begin a 4 game series in San Francisco. They would clinch with a victory in any of those games so one would think the Giants would have extra motivation to help us out by, say, winning all four games.

  18. Mets sit in a tie with Dodgers currently after clinching this evening. Nolan Arenado grand slam in the first helps our cause tremendously. Go Rockies!
  19. Giants won, so Dodgers can't clinch today (not that we want them to do that anytime soon).
