  1. Todd Pratt was the starting catcher in the Todd Pratt game (Piazza was injured). He also started a game in 2000 when Piazza was the DH.
  2. Yes Lenny Harris Anderson Hernandez JC Martin Jim Beauchamp Juan Uribe Ty Kelly Duffy Dyer Ron Hodges Dave Magadan No Mackey Sasser (double-switched into a game in ‘88) Rod Gaspar (in the field for the NLCS) Kelly Johnson (defensive replacement, Game 1 of DS in 15) Bubba Trammell (started Game 5 of WS in 2000) Ed Hearn (never got to play) Matt Franco (nothing in ‘99, but got a few innings at first in two games in 2000)

  4. Yes. 0-4 as PH in the 73 World Series. I'm not too proud to admit I had forgotten he was a Met.
  5. Yes. 3 appearances in 69, all as a pinch hitter.
  6. Rod appeared in the field in all 3 LCS games in 1969.
  7. Yes to Harris. No to Sasser. He entered on a double switch in Game 5 in 1988 during the top of the ninth. Yes to Anderson Hernandez.
  8. Vaguely inspired by the discussion about Ruben Tejada's last appearance in his first Mets tenure being a postseason game. 14 players have appeared for the Mets in a postseason game without having ever played in the field. Who are they? Hint: Ruben Tejada is not a correct answer.
  9. I've had quite enough of Todd Frazier's bat, but he is definitely the best defensive option we have at third, right? Out of our “better on defense than offense” options, we have Frazier, Panik, and Lagares. Is there a reason a rotation/matchup system isn't optimal there?
  10. Yes!
  11. Mets went 15-5 against the Junior Circuit this year. I wonder if that's their best-ever single season interleague record.
  12. For those who fell asleep: this one went in the books at about 12:20 AM as a rain-shortened victory. Sweep. LFGM
  13. =Ceetar post_id=19613 time=1566504381 user_id=102] Izzy still around then?
  14. Roger is indeed also one. Third one is a real stumper.
  15. Ruben becomes the 50th Recidivist Met in franchise history tonight, the fourth whose initial "final" game came in the postseason. That's a good trivia question - re: who the other three are.
  16. Most years, eh, Conforto strikes out. But this season? I could see a 3 run double here.
  17. Two runs is manageable with top of the order coming up in the ninth.
  18. If nothing else, nice to see Lagares 4 for 4.
  19. I don't think we're going to win this game.
  20. 3 pitch innings are good.
  21. =bmfc1 post_id=18591 time=1565636147 user_id=73] Strength of schedule is not talked about in baseball but the Mets get the MFYs (per usual) 4 times and HOU 4 times while WSH gets 4 with SEA and their usual 4 with BAL.
  22. I know it has, but it's uncommon. I'd also imagine it is more likely to happen when one series is a division matchup (eg. Reds play Cubs and White Sox at same time).
  23. Scheduling Oakland and San Francisco games at the same time is unlikely to work out. Same reason that NL teams who have the Yankees on their schedule do not commonly play both teams in a row. There are some dumb things on this schedule: -a 7 game SF/SD roadtrip, followed by those exact same 2 teams coming to NY for 7 games. -In June, there's a one-city road trip to Chicago, followed by a 3 game homestand, followed by a west coast roadtrip.
  24. First time out in Flushing in a while and what a perfect night for it. Reportedly a sellout and it may well have been - people were in their seats and LOUD. Someone asked about Panik's walkup song. Sorry, couldn't hear it as crowd was going nuts after Guillorme. Loved the move of keeping in Lugo for the bottom of the Washington order. Loved the roster flexibility with McNeil playing 3 positions. Alonso might be pressing a little, or just looking to extend that HR streak. A winning ballclub is FUN. LGFM
