  1. Nolan Ryan won't be joining his 1969 teammates at Citi Field on June 29, according to Steve Marcus of Newsday. Also unable to reunite will be Al Weis, Ken Boswell, Gary Gentry and coach Joe Pignatano, along with, as we already learned, Tom Seaver.
  2. The Schaeferbot believes Jacob deGrom pitched for an inning Sunday when in fact deGrom's participation was limited to completing Jason Vargas's at-bat after Vargas left the game with a leg cramp (Jake walked). Likewise, the Schaeferbot has a hard time picking out pitchers' hitting performances, as Steven Matz's home run on Friday does not show up in its box score. This isn't to say we don't love and appreciate the Schaeferbot. It's just that it sometimes gets a little confused.
  3. Curtis Granderson receives a nice twilight elegy from SI: https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/06/17/curtis-granderson-career-miami-marlinshttps://www.si.com/mlb/2019/06/17/curtis-granderson-career-miami-marlins

Editor Chris Stone and Publisher Danny Lee will continue to lead Sports Illustrated at Meredith. Sports Illustrated's editoral operations have been sold to Maven (not to be confused with Stan Fischler).
  6. Padres took a 3-0 lead in the first today in Denver. Rockies went ahead 6-3 in the bottom of the first. Padres trimmed it to 6-5 in the top of the second. Rockies made it 9-5 in the bottom of the inning. Padres closed to within 9-8 in the third. Rockies added a run in the fifth and another three in the sixth to make it 13-8. Padres scored two in the seventh...and four in the ninth. The Rockies did not respond. Final at Coors Field: Padres 14 Rockies 13. Also, it rained. Seven Padres and six Rockies pitched. Wade Davis pinned with the blown save.

  18. Baty to be signed and introduced Saturday. Reportedly already listed on Cyclones roster.
  19. Gsellman didn't pitch a second inning because of a stiff back.
  20. Sticking around mostly because his arm is fresh; a move will have to be made (Gsellman left tonight's debacle with a stiff back). Brooks Pounders has ruined my weekend in New York. I'm en route to Syracuse with Tim Peterson.
  21. Recalled in conjunction with DFA of Santiago.
  22. DFA'd after tonight's loss(es).
