  1. 9PM Friday on UPN- China v. Korea! yikes, i cant believe they are putting this on primetime television especially for a game between 2 teams clearly in the lower half of the pool.
  2. i'm lazy but curious... if you turned each of Reyes' singles/walks after which he stole a base into a double and then turned the ones in which he was caught stealing into an out where would his OPS be?
  3. i can only hope his total stats werent counted at each...
  4. The arbitrary setting of who "qualifies" and then taking the stats as a total rather than an average per game makes the whole thing meaningless in my eyes. Either count the club's entire history at the position or average the best years. If you make the cutoff "80" a team with two guys worth "81" looks better than a team with an "85" and two "79's"
  5. the insurance wouldnt kick in if he played elsewhere and the other team would only have to pay him the minimum while the astros pay the rest i believe so at that price the astros may as well keep him.
  6. ok bret, i've found someone willing to risk yankee-cooties and enter legends field to get you out, lets hope nobody sees through his disguise... (any excuse to use the picture)
  7. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I'm afraid you're on your own, Bret. We don't negotiate with terrorists. We also don't do black-ops rescue missions anymore, Mr Met's head has outgrown the suit. this thread might as well read "look at me! look at me! i'm in Florida and you're not!"
  8. There is no way Bagwell should walk away from any money he is due.
  9. i would definetaly be ok with that, but i know the Mets wouldn't move Reyes out of there no matter how low his obp gets.
  10. ]Boone, a three-time All-Star who lost his passion for the game last season Or lost his needles, whichever...
  11. I agree with KC about Matsui... JD- My feeling is that Boone is in no position to make demands, if he wants to retire let him retire. The Mets should not change their plans in the slightest because of the retirement threats of Bret Boone.
  12. Reyes, Beltran, Wright, Delgado, Floyd, Diaz, LoDuca, Matsui makes the most sense to me, but IF the Mets refuse to bat beltran second i'd still rather see Diaz there than LoDuca and maybe I'd even rather see Matsui there since he's better suited for it if he can actually play up to his potential from Japan as of where LoDuca is more you get what you see, he's not getting better.
  13. Johnny Dickshot wrote: That the Mets bend the rules for stars like beltran ought to be evident by the fact that a superior centerfielder was moved aside to accommodate him in a manner similar to superior slot hitters moved elsewhere to reserve No. 3 for his bat. I think it's very much a showcase/pride thing. you're right, and its pretty fuckin annoying that the mets used the "24+1" argument to avoid getting Alex Rodriguez but then give Beltran the 24+1 treatment.
  14. Adam- Of the trades that received lukewarm or hostile responses from the fans (losses of Cameron, Benson, Seo, and aquisition of LoDuca in my mind) which will have those fans biting their tongues a year from now and praising Minaya? Do you believe the Mets are a better team now than they were before Benson and Seo were traded?
  15. the draft is now Sat Mar 25 6:45pm EST, the weekend before the season starts.
  16. yeah...is there any website/bookstore where you get an extra cut for sending us that way?
  17. strange indeed, i now seem able to set it back as far as the end of march...is this something we want? i prefer NOT to draft saturday april 1st since i have another draft (for real $$) that morning but do we want to push it back to march 24th (the last saturday in march) obviously this would allow everyone more information from ST and less likelihood of their early round picks getting hurt between the draft and the season.... unless anyone is against it (and posts soon) i'll make the switch.

  19. you might have been checking under a winner's league or something, having just re-checked theres nothing later for us.
  20. So perhaps you expect the mets to leave Centerfield vacant and hope that nothing falls between Diaz and Floyd? "No I don't" isn't much of an answer, if you don't expect them to bring up Milledge and don't expect them to play Chavez what DO you expect them to do? or are you just disagreeing with me out of habit?
  21. You expect them to play Endy Chavez every day? i don't think so.
  22. If Beltran were to hit the DL I'd have to think we'd see Lastings Milledge come up.
  23. i took it to mean pitching him inside off the plate, which for whatever stupid reason isn't done anymore.
  24. Farmer Ted wrote: Bonds has a right knee made of glass yet NO ONE pitches him down and in? throwing the ball inside is against the "new" rules, you might get ejected for it lol. call the strike zone as define in the rulebook and lets see how many homers get hit then.
  25. There is no possible way that he is a better player than Ruth because ruth's hitting numbers are as good or much better when adjusting for the era they played in, and even if you could make those stats look equal or even get Bonds a slight edge you'd still have Ruth's pretty amazing pitching record to contend with.
