  1. "Theres being aggresive and i guess theres just being stupid" - Hernandez on Ramirez getting CS just now. players seem so dumb these days, how the hell can you get thrown out tryig to take 3B with Jacobs and then Cabrera up down by TWO runs?
  2. I think when it came out that Hernandez was lying about the raft it became quite approriate to make fun of it... its like that former blue jays manager (was it Johnson?) who lied about serving in Vietnam, if you're going to lie about shit expect to be made fun of.
  3. I know its 5-3 but i'm a bit annoyed so far. 3 runs on 1 hit? i NEVER want to see the sequence "walk, walk, homer" when we're winning by 4 runs. you've gotta give Willingham, if not Cabrera, something to hit with that score. I also was a bit annoyed that Valentin swung 3-0 (which worked out) and Chavez swung 2-0 (which didnt work out) when Nolasco couldnt find the plate.
  4. ]Philip Highes Is this P. HUGHES, or another guy altogether? If its Hughes he's a well regarded pitchig prospect, if its "Highes" I've never heard of him.
  5. Glavine 3.5 Wright 3.5 Beltran 1 Castro 1 Woodward .5 Franco .5
  6. Weight's double scores woodward, dumb groundrule keeps beltran at 3rd.

  8. well that why we have the RLF, i'd hate to delete negative posts but its good to be able to shove them under the virtual rug.
  9. ]And no apostrophes, either. (He's not Irish.) O'Hernandez (or is it O'Duque?) is very upset at your ignorance of his Irish heritage. If you ever want him to pitch well for the Mets you're going to have to meet his demands: 1. Do not leave the apostrophe out of his name in Schaeffer voting. 2. On days O'Hernandez pitches, the Schaffer voting will be called the Guiness POTG voting, because Schaffer sucks and Guiness is Irish. 3. Mr. Met will be replaced by a drunken Leprechaun.
  10. Martinez 4 Reyes 1 Beltran .5
  11. Sheets can't stay off the DL and has been one of the huge disappointments on my main fantasy team this year (read: the league for $$)
  12. In their own home the Marlins fans just tried to get a lets go marlins chant going... they were drowned out by met fans booing them!! we own this stadium and hopefully we will own this team too.
  13. Reyes walks...it sounds on the radio like the place is packed with Mets fans!
  14. metirish wrote: David Wright out tonight because of back spasms...gary just said in on SNY, Valentin will play 3rd. Shit.
  15. JD with a nice last-second KTE, who disappeared?
  16. thanks Joe! I like this move for two reasons: 1) it keeps Gonzalez (who i didnt really like) out of the rotation (i'd have killed willie/omar if he supplanted Soler or Bannister in the longterm.) 2) if Adams sucks we lost nothing, if Adams is good it's more pressure to put Heilman in the rotation.
  17. ]Is 22 an age thats old for rookie ball? yes. you'll ocassionally see a guy come out of college, sign late (once the rosters for AA are set) and get assigned to rookie ball, but if he's still there in a month its likely because he is not a prospect.
  18. I liked him last year on the Pirates though he's been terrible this year. We got him for next to nothing and i assume he'll go to Norfolk so this isn't big news, it'll be nice to have him if needed for an emergency start or three if he finds last year's form again.
  19. Reyes 3 Nady 1 Gonzalez 2.5 Mike & The Mad Dog 0
  20. I'd rather have Benson than Duque but thats not really the point. The Benson trade is over and done with, holding onto the guy you got for him just to avoid the comparisons to the guy you're getting now is foolish. Just because you made a stupid move (A for doesn't mean you need to hold on to the guy you got back to cover your ass, if B for C makes sense NOW then do it, and don't worry about comparisons between C and A.
  21. Wright 4 Soler 3 Beltran 1.5 Heilman .5 Wagner .5 Woodward .5 Valentin .25
  22. my memory of him is as an oriole giving up a bomb to the yankees... as a met i remember bashing him when we got him and then saying "i told you so" after his first start. don't be fooled by his passable pitching lately...this is just an example of Omar wisely "selling high"
  23. i like this trade, but only as long as it is an experiment. i never liked julio so i'm happy to get a guy who could potentially be decent in the rotation for him, but if hernandez stinks the mets need to cut bait with him. if the mets stick with him through more than 4 or 5 bad starts this will be a bad trade just for blocking heilman.
  24. I was there tonight (hence my absense in the IGT) a few (obvious) observations: 1. Soler looked great after the first 3 batters walked, the hits off him were grounders, his stuff was amazing 2. the home plate umpire was terrible, he was squeezing all the pitchers big time. 3. lieber looked like a batting practice pitcher, i'm suprised we didnt score ten runs off of him. 4. woodward must have fallen asleeop as Soler pitched slower than traschel does in the 1st, Delgado bailed Matsui out big time in the 7th. 5. the fans love Wagner despite the rough spots so far.
