  1. i agree it's a good idea. i suppose the clubs would want to split the revenue 30 ways? i'm not sure how they split it up now, do the yankees get it all since they are hosting?
  2. ]he traded minor leaguers Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips and Cliff Lee for Bartolo Colon. there are no such prospects in the mets system.

Maine? i don't think so. who do you think he'll trade away thats part of the "core" of a potentially successful mets team? IMO, the "core" consists of Wright, Reyes, and Santana. That's it. Everyone else should be available in the right deal. thats fine. i'd be more protective of Maine than Reyes at this point. but i really want to hear from vince who he thinks minaya will deal away in desperation ]And you think Minaya is going to trade one of them? it was vince, not mex, who made that comment

  5. i think a GM necessarily needs a certain amount of time to have "his plan" implemented. i think when you look at this year's roster you can fairly say that it is both: A. Omar's team, and B. a "win now" club that doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt that the same guys will be better next year. If the Mets don't make the playoffs or at least come strong down the stretch and give Shea a penant-race sendoff I'd fire omar at season's end. i see no reason to do it now though.
  6. my choice is spelled "%#%#" when typing in a kid-friendly environment
  7. if I'm the Mariners i keep him, they could always get a good return next season, or failig that get a 1st rounder and a supplemental pick when he signs elsewhere, not a bad option sometimes. ]but seeing as nearly ALL their upper-level prospects project as either first basemen or left fielders... none of those guys are highly rated enough that i'd hesitate for evena second to bring in Teiziera or Dunn. It does thin out after that as far as i know. Oh, and I love Sheets, he's been on my fantasy team many times, and he's a walking injury ward.
  8. those guys are fine, but i'd rather see the mets pursue a big-bopper at 1B or a corner outfield spot, because that is the team's biggest need.
  9. firejoemorgan is a great website that does a great job calling out dumb commentators like joe and lazy columnists everywhere.
  10. AG/DC wrote: ]He begins ticking off the names of others who have been given the chance to manage, mentioning the "pictures Joe Girardi must have on Steinbrenner," and so a job with the Yankees is also probably out of the question. That's sort of a new low, isn't it? I've said it before, but lack of self-awareness is epidemic these days. i was about to copy and paste the same section of the article. this guy burns bridges and lobbies for jobs that belong to other people and then he is dumbfounded that nobody wants him
  11. My favorite Russo moment was him not knowing that Delgado, and all other Puerto Ricans, are American citizens.
  12. i dont think Reyes will ever put up a year at the plate like the one Hanley Ramirez had last year.
  13. lets SWEEP the Mariners and convince them that their season is over so they might as well leave Raul Ibanez behind when they leave NY on thursday.
  14. yeah, in order for arod to be "overrated" people would have to go around talking about him like he's a better hitter than Ruth, Williams, and Bonds... i havent heard much of that.
  15. or get him out during this inning. Pelfrey done without allowing a run after 5 2/3, he walked 5. runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs for joe smith.
  16. if he's smart he'll avoid internet forums entirely
  17. well your only option then is to stand by the tunnel in the 9th inning and sprint down the ramps for the car upon the last out. Your mileage with this method may vary depending on the stamina and out-of-shapeness of your party.
  18. Pelfrey strikes out Atkins to retire the Rockies and strand two!
  19. ball 4 is a wild pitch but Baker is thrown out trying to come home.... very dumb move by Baker and it could have saved Pelfrey.
  20. 1-0 Mets. Fernando Tatis... playing with an oxygen tank in the dugout
  21. it once took me that long, i was in the lot across the street (roosevelt ave) from the ballpark. i usually get out pretty fast, you need to park by the exit (instead of trying to park close to the stadium, more walking = less time trying to exit later on.) It helps if you leave the moment the last out is made as well, instead of standing around for too long because then everyone is in their cars before you and you are screwed.
  22. i once upon a time (i was probably 13 or so) could have told you most or all of the NBA rosters... today i couldn't name the entire knicks roster without cheating.
  23. good kid. already knows its best to forget about kaz
  24. what the hell was up with beltran trying to lay a bunt down with 1st and 2nd nobody out against a pitcher who had just walked two guys in coors field? he plays stupid sometimes.
  25. contrary to what the Mets have been saying the last 2 years, parking is fine if you are early. parking is, however, a mess if you get there once the lot fills up (normally 40 minutes before game time you are still ok, but for mets-yankees i'd be earlier.) i've never tried to bring a backpack in, but my shopping bags filled with food have never received more than a cursory "open that for me...ok go on in" from the mets website: ]How early may we enter Shea Stadium prior to the start of the game? Gate C opens two and a half hours prior to the scheduled game time. You and your guests are invited to enter through Gate C and enjoy batting practice from your ticketed seats. All other gates open one and a half hours prior to the scheduled game time, except the Diamond Club entrance, which opens two hours prior to the scheduled start of night games. Opening times may vary for doubleheaders and special game dates.
