]That is why you see virtually the same column written over as the story of the week. Last week it was "Mets didn't include enough history" template, and this week it's the "Mets lack heart/edge" template. When can we have the "Omar is a genius and the Mets are the best team ever" template back?

Anyone watching Strawberry's recent book tour
nymr83 replied to stevejrogers's topic in New York Mets Talk
was he simultaneously on 50 channels? was he even on two channels? just watch something else if you dont want to see the straw. i probably would have changed the channel myself. -
]He's a great pro.......seriously I don't know why he upsets people(nymr) so much. it upsets me to see him bat 2nd, i dont think i ever said he shouldnt be a backup MI. edit, so i checked to make sure i wasnt remembering wrong and i wasn't. in the 5/1 IGT i said: ]Cora shouldnt be batting 2nd, drop him down between tatis and santos and move everyone else up a spot. a day or two earlier Manuel decided to bunt (what else is new) and i said i didn't like it but that if you're going to do it i guess Cora is the one to do it with (citing his statistics). god knows how you're calling me out here.

]On top of all that, you're forced to pay outrageous prices to watch bad baseball at Citi Field - the not-so-impressive new park that the team plunked down next to a shanty town of shabby auto body shops. Even visitors from Detroit would find that area crummy I got in Monday for $11, I sat in seats better than the entire upper deck at Shea, I was mostly impressed by the ballpark, and I'd rather have a shanty town than have the government using its eminent domain power to tear down businesses. And there are no "visitors from Detroit" to find the area crummy because the people who leave Detroit don't go back, making them "migrants from Detroit who chose the big apple over your crappy city"

="Frayed Knot"]]It's Pablo, not Pedro Sandoval. Told ya I didn't know him. For the record to close out April: - the Dodgers win again (over the Giants) meaning they've still yet to lose at home. - and the Cards beat the Nats on - stop me if you've heard this one - a 9th inning bullpen meltdown. its going to be impossible to have consistency as long as the divisions have 5/6/5/5/5/4 teams in them.

a reprieve for Castro or Santos! lets see what what you can do boys!

"lack heart" is a euphamism for "aren't winning at the moment."

In concomitant moves, the Mets shift Daniel Murphy to third base, call up Fernando Martinez and have Oliver Perez and Bobby Parnell switch roles. I think this is a flight of fancy. Or am I dead serious? I'm not sure.[/quote:2scopwla] I wouldn't expect to see Halladay in a Mets uniform as long as the Jays are winning and the Mets aren't. We should have been jealous of the Phillies' bullpen last year, not their position players. They scored exactly the same amount of runs as the Mets did, in a much friendlier park. I'm not sure who'd rather have Victorino than Beltran, or why. batmagadanleadoff Apr 30 2009 06:29 PM ="smg58":39bribgv]We should have been jealous of the Phillies' bullpen last year, not their position players. Overall, I don't think there's a damn signifcant difference between the Mets and the Phillies. Luck more than anything else, has designated one of these indistinguishable teams as the champs and the other, a bunch of choke artists.

="Benjamin Grimm"]="G-Fafif"]Admittedly unlikely, possibly clinically insane Met makeover proposal here. ]1) The Mets send David Wright, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Tim Redding and Ramon Castro to Philadelphia for Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino and Ryan Howard. 2) The Mets send Carlos Delgado, Brian Schneider, John Maine, Brad Holt and Ike Davis to Toronto for Roy Halladay, Rod Barajas and Kevin Millar. In concomitant moves, the Mets shift Daniel Murphy to third base, call up Fernando Martinez and have Oliver Perez and Bobby Parnell switch roles. I think this is a flight of fancy. Or am I dead serious? I'm not sure. That would be the end of me as a fan, I think. I know that teams change personnel, but this would be too much at once. It would reinforce that they're a team of strangers and I think my interest would be shot. Perhaps. i agree with you re: the mockery of a trade with philadelphia, but would that mock trade with Torinto really bother you? Holt is a prospect, Delgado and Maine are hardly home-grown guys (Delgado to the blue jays would in fact be where he belongs) and Schnieder is neither homegrown nor good.

Well he doesnt have to tip anything, but he's A-Rod, i'm sure his presence there is a big circus and i'll bet he gets treated better than the average customer does too.
-
Yeah, I don't see how Delgado is anywhere in the vicinity of ready to play if he couldn't be called upon in the 9th yesterday.
-
even in his bad months he's still getting on base at a nice clip. maybe he should be batting 2nd protected by beltran instead of 5th? if he's getting on base but not being the RBI-man then thats where he belongs anyway.
