Kong76 Aug 17 2009 05:16 PM I trust you mean to finish up the season if needed. metsguyinmichigan Aug 17 2009 06:22 PM Get a run back -- and give it right back again..... metirish Aug 17 2009 06:34 PM I don't think Keith has a clue what he is talking about tonight , trying to wing it talking about the 97 Marlins team , not good. Kong76 Aug 17 2009 06:38 PM It was kind of funny when Gary listed Colorado as a road trip destination and then Keith chimed in about Denver too. He's eccentric lol. themetfairy Aug 17 2009 06:52 PM Keith's grudging respect for Murphy at first is significant. Meanwhile, it's 6-1 Giants in the 6th. Ugh. metirish Aug 17 2009 06:55 PM Livan probably done with.....I think Keith may have erred when talking about Sullivan and saying that he is really more of a corner outfielder and not a CF as he is playing there tonight....I think he said it not knowing that CF is in fact his position as it were...not that it matters a jot . LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 17 2009 06:57 PM 6 runs, 12 baserunners in 5 1/3 innings. Maybe it's the heat, but I can't quite tell whether that was a good Livan start or a bad one. Frayed Knot Aug 17 2009 06:58 PM Meanwhile, 3 of our (scant few) baserunners have been erased. Ashie62 Aug 17 2009 07:30 PM Goodbye Cora..you served us well MFS62 Aug 17 2009 07:42 PM ="Ashie62":jnm4o04x]Goodbye Cora..you served us well[/quote:jnm4o04x] Please 'splain, Lucy. What a fucking lackluster performance from these guys. Please spare us a link. Later John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 17 2009 09:42 PM Was unable to give away my ticket but crashed the Greg-and-Jason gathering and later had a Gwreck encounter. The remaining fans in the 9th, led by us I think, had a good AN-DY GREEN cheer happening. I had no idea how Sully was out by so much in the first, I mean, looked like another bad send by Razor by the time it finished but I thouight he'd have made it. Little bit of bad luck on the DPs, but we sure did a little with as many hits, walks and errors they gave us in the first 4-5 innings. Redding has been a complete disaster this year. Frayed Knot Aug 17 2009 09:51 PM I think Sully's one of those guys who - while not slow exactly - just isn't as fast as he looks like he should be. I didn't mind that send by Razor (1 out, we're not going to score being passive, etc.) but Rowand fielded that ball pretty shallow and made a good throw. Redding was a bit unlucky at first - a lot of bleeders and seeing eye hits - but then, after the damage had already started, he started getting hit hard and the carnage was in full force. Several of those DPs shouldn't have happened. Sheff mis-read the shit out of that one fly ball and Francoeur needed to freeze on the liner. Gwreck Aug 17 2009 10:09 PM Just a top-5 ugly game this year. How about giving Elmer Dessens a start next time around? MFS62 Aug 17 2009 10:22 PM ="Gwreck":34qetejl] How about giving Elmer Dessens a start next time around?[/quote:34qetejl] How about not? Later Gwreck Aug 17 2009 10:37 PM And so we go with Livan again? Ok, I guess. The season's lost anyway. But in the absence of prospects who would benefit from getting MLB experience, I'm not exactly opposed to skipping Livan next time. MFS62 Aug 18 2009 07:59 AM ="Gwreck":2z6al8a7]And so we go with Livan again? Ok, I guess. The season's lost anyway. But in the absence of prospects who would benefit from getting MLB experience, I'm not exactly opposed to skipping Livan next time.[/quote:2z6al8a7] I agree, but in the absence of such a prospect, I'd rather give the start to Figueroa insted of Dessens. Later Benjamin Grimm Aug 18 2009 08:05 AM Does anyone know if John Maine is still alive? John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 18 2009 08:20 AM I think he's out for the year. Speculation is the Mets could nontender him this winter so it could be auf wiedersehen. Irish got me all excited for the new season of PR, sorry. Benjamin Grimm Aug 18 2009 08:22 AM I developed a fondness for German while I was on vacation, so no need to apologize! I think Maine's past is far better than his future; a non-tender wouldn't trouble me in the least. Should be an interesting winter. (I think it will also be a frustrating one.) metirish Aug 18 2009 08:29 AM ="John Cougar Lunchbucket"]I think he's out for the year. Speculation is the Mets could nontender him this winter so it could be auf wiedersehen. Irish got me all excited for the new season of PR, sorry. I'm looking forward to it , just need to find where the Lifetime channel is on my dial.... this didn't make for good reading in the News the other day Project Runway Edgy DC Aug 18 2009 08:31 AM Could you guys get a private thread or something? Thanks! metirish Aug 18 2009 08:36 AM ="Edgy DC"]Could you guys get a private thread or something? Thanks! not every man can pull off red pants , I commend you on that ...... Gwreck Aug 18 2009 11:35 AM ="John Cougar Lunchbucket"]I think he's out for the year. Speculation is the Mets could nontender him this winter so it could be auf wiedersehen Seriously? I haven't seen any updated medical reports on him recently but that seems a bit rash, no? He's not exactly an expensive player ($2.6 M this year, and if they go back to arbitration he's not going to get more than the minimum raise). John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 18 2009 12:00 PM I dunno. He's been unreliable about as long as he's been reliable for us by now. I forget where I saw the nontender speculation (Rubin, prolly) but I guess we should prepare for it. Boneyard is full of once-promising guys with bad shoulders.
  2. this is absurd. if they don't DL him everyone would be cursing them out and invoking the Church incident as proof the Mets don't kbow how to handle a concussion. the mets want to play it safe with their star player's HEAD INJURY in an already lost season? fine by me.
  3. it would be great if they signed their guys for not more than the organization feels they are worth, whether thats more, or less, than selig reccommends.
  4. Jeremy Reed is out there wearing #18 and they're worried about re-issuing Carter's number? Carter was only a Met for 5 years, retiring his number would be NUTS. Strawberry, Piazza, Franco, and Koosman have better claims of deserving it. Maybe Al Leiter too. Carter was an Expo and, much to his chagrin, is in the hall with the right hat.
  5. pfft, like i trust a feng shui expert with a name like "Wendell", lets get a second opinion from someone whose name looks chinese in print.
  6. Who wants to join me at LaGuardia? I'm planning on calling in a bomb threat if the Mets let David within 50 yards of an airplane.
  7. another depressing loss and another big injury. the mets should just send everyone on a paid vacation until march 2010 and let replacement players finish out this cursed season.
  8. ="metirish":tb64usar]Just walked in the door and saw FOX showing the beaning , then they show Sanatana retaliating by hitting two guys?[/quote:tb64usar] he threw behind Sandoval (who then homered), he hit Molina on the elbow in what was arguably just an attempt to pitch inside. metirish Aug 15 2009 04:33 PM Thanks nymr , no reason to think that Cain was throwing at Wright? John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 15 2009 04:48 PM No win for you, Matt Cain. Now suck me. John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 15 2009 04:50 PM Let's go, Frenchy. Make em pay and pay and pay. Frayed Knot Aug 15 2009 04:59 PM OK bottom of the lineup, who wants to be a hero-aire ? Rockin' Doc Aug 15 2009 05:06 PM Phillies and Braves tied at 3 in the bottom of the ninth. Bases loaded for the Braves and Church strikes out swinging. Infante singles to defeat the Phillies (like it matters for the Mets). Frayed Knot Aug 15 2009 05:08 PM 'nother blown save for Lidge - this one due mostly to his own double-error on a sac bunt (first he bobbled it, then he threw it away) Rockin' Doc Aug 15 2009 05:10 PM Curse on the entire damn Molina clan! Frayed Knot Aug 15 2009 05:10 PM And speaking of shaky closers ... Frayed Knot Aug 15 2009 05:20 PM Would be nice if Wright & Sheffield were coming up after this ... instead of Tatis and pitcher. Hell, I'd settle for Beltran & Delgado too. Spacemans Bong Aug 15 2009 05:27 PM Well, nice to see a New York team win. Actually, I'm surprised the Mets didn't ask the Giants if they wanted to wear some throwback unis this weekend. John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 15 2009 06:02 PM Nymr83 Aug 15 2009 07:00 PM another depressing loss and another big injury. the mets should just send everyone on a paid vacation until march 2010 and let replacement players finish out this cursed season. Gwreck Aug 15 2009 10:29 PM I'm glad Johan knew what to do once David was hit. But how the hell could he miss Pablo Sandoval? MFS62 Aug 16 2009 07:33 AM Even if they were to painfully castrate all males in the Molina family, it wouldn't change History. But if I could invent a time machine .... Later John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 16 2009 07:39 AM Where's that list? Ace, loses, best hitter nearly killed and the two "victims" of retailiation hit the HRs that destroy us. GAWD
  9. why warn both benches there? by throwing behind a guy you send the message "don't hit my guys" without any danger of hurting anyone, whats the big deal?
  10. i thought this game was at 7pm?? wright is hurt? any more news?
  11. I don't think they should retire it. The decision of whether or not to retire a player should be based, I think, solely on what that player did with the team. what he did elsewhere doesn't count. Piazza, as a Met, doesn't stand up to Strawberry, whose number hasn't been retired.
  12. "It [amphetamine use] might be dangerous, but so is drinking and driving. And how many of us do it at least once a year? Pretty much everybody." -Bronson "I'm a Fucking Idiot" Arroyo
  13. ="Kong76":uhl1k8h3]Seriously, does anyone get off the subway and walk towards Citi Field and think of Ebbets Field or the Dodgers after a couple of months now?[/quote:uhl1k8h3] when i get off the subway? no. when i enter the jackoe robinson shrine? yeah. which isn't to say that i care much is anyone here old enough to have gone to Ebbetts Field often enough to have alot of memories of it? do those people think 'Dodgers' when they get to Citi? Rockin' Doc Aug 12 2009 08:23 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 12 2009 08:29 PM I suggest the Mets commemorate this season with a red cross, rather than a flag. Kong76 Aug 12 2009 08:27 PM For me, the whole Jackie thing wore off after two rides up the escalators. I think more about peeing, next beer, some grub, or finding people I might be looking for. Ashie62 Aug 13 2009 11:18 AM I don't care for retro Jerseys, but this NY Giants one is "OK" I thought it might have lapels and it doesn't. I hope it doesn't come with a baggy cap. These retro things remind me of the White Sox short pants motif in the 70's. David Wright in shorts..That would be a hoot metirish Aug 13 2009 11:21 AM From the Daily Snewz ] MORE TO COME: Fans will see more tributes to Mets history during the upcoming home stand. According to a team statement: "The Mets have begun installation of photographic imagery of famous players and historic moments in team history on the field and promenade levels as well as the display of team championship banners on the left-field wall."
  14. ]Fourthly - dollars to doiughnuts that this hideous uni will return next year in some similar form as an 'alternate' they'll return sooner- as merchandise on mets.com, because thats got to be the real reason behind these.
  15. it looks interesting enough to not make me change the channel when it makes its way to cable in a few years
  16. Schneider starts for a few teams, Francoeur probably too, and Castillo for about 1/3 of the league or more. thats about it.
  17. grudzielanek has been an average player the last few years, would have been nice to have around when jose went down but not of much use now to a team better off testing out some young guys.
  18. ="Frayed Knot"]"Castillo led the Mets in July with 28 hits, a .368 batting average, a .447 slugging percentage and a .478 OBP, as well as 4 stolen bases. " OK, that's kind of disturbing. Mostly everything about this season has been disturbing.
  19. I'd give "Paulie" 0 stars, one of the worst things i've seen in theaters
  20. If they get rid of Omar they should really CLEAN HOUSE and get rid of everyone from the Omar or Phillips era left in the front office.
  21. it doesnt do anything....
  22. Blue Jays ownership is likely throwing a party right now.
  23. Basball reference has them as 2 seperate players, as well as a 3rd Ralph M Henriquez who played in the 50's, could be 3 generations here Ralph Henriquez I[/url:3eol4uqk] Ralph Henriquez II[/url:3eol4uqk] Ralph Henriquez III[/url:3eol4uqk]
