  1. Howie on the radio jokingly asked how long the 0-7 slump would last right before he hit it
  2. Wright under .400 as his slump continues, Ted Williams could take a deep breath now* *if his head wasn't frozen
  3. New rules = Improved NY-Penn League play? I don't think I'm a fan. What if a team wants to "overpay" 9 guys and tell their 4th round pick "eh, nevermind, here's a 5K offer". There should be a minimum bonus tender by round (say 1 mil, 750k, 500k, etc) and if you don't make it the guy becomes a free agent.

  5. After being sat out to avoid a lefty, Ike faces their lefty-specialist! Outmanaged, Terry! (Yeah it was a defensive replacement but I'd have waited)
  6. MLB was never going to give Shea the sendoff that it gave that rundown shithole in the Bronx.
  7. MFS62 wrote: This is interesting, because the Lubuvitch sect of Orthodox Jews have their own web sites and the Rabbi of the local group sends out emails about upcoming events. I'm on his email list. Later That's because the Lubavitch (the followers of the late Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, OBM) aren't nut cases as some of the other sects are. My (Lubavitch) rabbi and rebbetzin are even on the impure facebook!
  8. Santana Striking out the side!
  9. Walking Torres to load the bases probably won't help you have a long night as a pitcher.
  10. They need to have an honest conversation with Ike and act accordingly. If the Valley Fever is having some toll on his body and/or there is an undisclosed injury now is the time to come clean and take as long as you need on the DL, much like Brett Favre playing like shit down the stretch for the Jets you aren't helping anyone by playing through it. If the injury/fever aren't the cause then its time for a good old fashion demotion! He's hitting like garbage and I think a month and a half is enough time in the bigs to try and snap out of it. Go down and come back when you've shown you can at least hit in AAA. In the mean time, you can try Duda at 1B when Bay gets back or Murphy at 1B with Turner getting more time as the starter at 2B.
  11. Edgy DC wrote: Not the Twins. Royals, though. Oh did the Twins open their new park this year or last? For some reason I thought it was NEXT year. I did forget the Royals.
  12. Moyer will become the first player to pitch in FIFTY different major league parks tonight when he starts at Miami's new stadium (according to Jayson Stark) A testament to his long 25 year career, the advent of interleague play, and the number of owners who have squeezed public dollars out of their states and cities recently. This got me thinking, how many teams are even still playing where they played when Moyer's career began? I'm coming up with the Red Sox, Twins, Athletics, Cubs, and Dodgers. Are any of these wrong? Am I missing any?
  13. I don't like an "aggressive" approach on 3-0, even if you put the ball in play what's your expected BA? .400? Sluggin .600? You are one pitch away from a walk which most guys should be looking for. I'd give all but the best power hitters the RED LIGHT on 3-0, and even those guys better jack it regularly or they are getting the red light next time too.

  15. KABOOOOOOOM! Rob Johnson bunting for the hit is still the catalyst here, who saw THAT coming?? Based on post times my blackberry mlb radio app is several minutes behind the live action
  16. Edgy DC wrote: What is predictable is that the more pitchers you use, the more likely it is that one of them will blow up your game. This is it exactly. You don't know who is going to be "on" on any given night, so if someone is pitching well just stick with them until they are tired!
  17. 7.90 and an ejection to boot!
  18. KABOOM! PHUCK PHILLY! Nice shot of the Phrontrunners heading for the exits to beat the traffic!
  19. New this year is the SEVEN day DL on which clubs can place players with concusssion symptoms. May help the Mets decide to play it safe with Thole.
  20. Leaving aside 40-man space, is Q out of options? If so he'd be able to refuse the assignment back down and/or could be claimed by another team right?
  21. Typical that I listen to 8 innings on the radio before leaving work at 10 and I miss THAT in the top of the 9th and need to read about it here. Whens the SNY rerun?
  22. After the Buster Posey injury last year, you'd think MLB would examine these plays. Also, please throw at a Philly.
  23. I liked Jae Seo, is there a "memories of..." thread for him?
  24. Mentioned on the radio during yesterday's game that Young is expected to pitch for Class A this week, not sure how far that puts him from kicking the likes of Schwinden and Batista out of starts.
