At this point there is a pretty serious inverse correlation among anyone who the Mets between the quality of their writing and the frequency with which they mention Madoff.
  2. the Carlos Gomez non-trade is the gift that keeps on giving for Mets fans - as he homered against the Yankees last night for Houston... The Yankees bench said something to Carlos who then told them to SHUT UP!!, Girardi did it like this. and then here's Carlos in the Post Game with the double you-suck whammy.. "I don't care what Joe Girardi says. ... If [the Yankees] feel frustrated, that's not my problem. This is part of the game, part of the nature of competition, and those who don't know how to compete, can just go home and cry."
  3. i'll trade the out for the run there. Philly phield plays like pre-humidor Coors
  4. we'll just score more runs, its what we do, right?

  6. yeah, he should likely be in a platoon, especially since said platoon ciould move Cespedes to a corner and get Lagares' glove into the lineup, you'd come out ahead defensively even if you only broke even on offense,
  7. Just checking in here- Gomez since the trade to Houston is .188/.233/.261 (74 PA) Flores in that time .294/.333/.490 (54 PA) Cespedes at a Met .274/.303/.425 (76 PA) The Mets could still ultimately look bad if Fullmer turns into a stud ace AND Wheeler doesnt AND Flores doesnt give them much the rest of this year and the rest of the period he is under control. but it looks like the Mets are pretty likely to be the winners here
  8. Has anyone checked on Curtis lately? all the way up to .251/.342/.455, 22 HRs. Baseball Reference WAR (3.3) has him 20th among NL position players. suck that!
  9. Did you guys know that Saint Jeter's -236 Defensive Runs Saved is the worst all time for any player in the entire history of baseball? just checking.
  10. I already broke the "in theatres" streak a few times - but i dont even know that i'll watch this one until i can do so completely for free, it looks awful.
  11. Let's hope that was OFlahertys quota of runs allowed for August.

I wouldn't let him go far but also he only has 67 pitches with one out in the 6th. tonight's pitch count isnt the point, he could be at 25 through 2 inings and i'd pull him if we led 25-0, IF there is an innings limit for the season. if there is no innings limit then i have no issue, but if there is then he shouldnt be left in for low-leverage innings on the rare occasions that blowouts develop. same goes for Syndergaard if he has a limit.

  14. SOLE POSSESSION of first place might be only a few innings away!
  15. Curtis would like to say "f u" to this thread,
  16. his home-road splits are downright insane right now. Citi - .296/.401/.663 Away - .194/.285/.288 I wonder if that has happened before for a full season for someone with enough ABs to qualify for the title. Even the Coors Field Greats have trouble matching that, the best i could find was Dante Bichette 1995/1996 but even he couldn't match that SLG% split.
  17. Duda looking for 2nd half MVP!
  18. Shocked they gave Fullmer up for 2 months of anyone, I guess the pressure to make it look like they care finally won out
  19. wow just wow. if your spouse caused you to miss that HR, is it grounds for divorce?
  20. FUCKFUCKFUCKFYCKFYCKFYFUCKFUCKFUCK
  21. Are these the same doctors who put Ryan Church on the airplane with a fresh concussion?
  22. Zvon wrote: Alls I can say is I hope we are laughing about this game in October. yeah you'll be laughing when you're watching the Nationals in the playoffs and remembering one of the dozen or so games that the Mets absolutely pissed away this year
  23. there were 2 outs, i'm sure the umps were trying to avoid the mess of awarding the mets the game by reason of rain and just let them get 1 out and everyone leaves. instead, they get an even bigger mess
  24. very reasonable, today's wuss relievers are trained not to come back and pitch a 2nd inning so why bring them back after a rain delay?
