  2. Even when the Mets win, nobody casts any Schaefer votes! Wednesday's win over the Mets has had only three votes so far. I know this season has become dreary, but with only about three weeks to go, I'll half-heartedly see this Schaefer stuff through to the end. Hopefully by April we'll once again be brimming with enthusiasm. I think from this point forward I'll just close the games when I feel like it, and may not bother with these little reminder messages. 4. This is a shot of Chris Evans' stunt double filming a scene as Captain America in England recently. I'm trying not to read too much into this, but it's surprising how utterly lame it looks.
  5. I guess this counts as a feather in Wally's cap.
  6. I wonder... are there any rules against a player playing in disguise? I would assume that the mask would have to be a color from the team's uniform. (I'm thinking of Shinjo and his orange armbands; he couldn't wear the red he preferred.) So Ollie would be allowed to pitch in a blue, orange, or black mask, but not a yellow or green one, for example. They might as well try it. These last 22 games are shaping up to be absolutely dreary. If everyone's level of interest is as low as mine currently is, the Masked Met will go virtually unnoticed..

  10. Are these guys even Mets fans? If I was in the hospital, and a bunch of unfamiliar Kansas City Royals came to visit me, I'm not sure what I'd think. I mean, I'd appreciate that they took the time, but I'd probably be more impressed to be visited by celebrities that I had heard of.
  11. Beltran's excuse may be legit, or it may be a copout. (I suspect it's legit.) Perez's no-comment seems like what we'd expect from him. Castillo's excuse? Cowardly! "I appreciate what they've done, but I can't bear to look at them." WTF?
  12. Bread and butter notes are always a must if you've been a house guest.
  13. Yeah, I'm sure it never crossed their minds that they might be putting her in any danger. And they probably weren't. It just looks strange from a 2010 perspective. Here's a picture of a pretty girl! And here's her home address!
  14. Wow... that Steve thing is interesting. I never knew that the Family Circus dad was ever anyone other than Bil Keane. The Wisconsin co-eds in Hawaii feature is strange. It looks like they used weird Photoshop effects on the second and third photos. And they seem to be tempting would-be stalkers by printing Mary Carol Schrieber's home address.

  24. Based on their recent history, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Mets gave the job to Don Mattingly or Razor Shines. Well, maybe I'd be a more than a little surprised at Shines. But not at Mattingly.
  25. Edgy DC wrote: If he starts the season next year as the new guy, the fans will boo him for being Not-Bobby. Would they? I think they'd be just as likely to cheer him for being Not-Jerry. I have to admit that I probably don't have a real sense about what Mets fandom in general wants, but my guess is that Bobby Valentine is more popular in this forum than he is outside it. But I could be very wrong.
