It doesn't seem that complicated. The ultimate goal is to push the all-time .500 point to April 1962. The further back the Mets push the date, the closer to the goal.
It was a broken toe. I think Dizzy took a line drive off his toe in an All-Star game. I wouldn't be too alarmed by injuries that occurred eighty years ago. Now, I think they'd know not to let a pitcher take the mound until his toe was fully healed. What happened to Ol' Diz isn't likely to happen again.
Is that the saleswoman who reminds the parents that they need to whisper so they don't wake up their sleeping baby? I like her too. As for Jan, less was more.
I think that a roving reporter can enhance the game. I remember thinking that the guy before Kevin (I forget his name) brought nothing at all to the table, but Kevin has shown that when done right, it can be a good thing. Steve Gelbs is no Kevin Burkhardt, but maybe he'll grow into the job. Or maybe he'll be replaced by someone better. Or maybe we're stuck with him for the next five or six years.
You know, every year we (or at least, I) think, well, if everything goes right, maybe the Mets can contend. This year, so much has gone wrong, and they keep winning. Maybe rooting for things to go right isn't the best approach after all.
It is really nice, though, that all this winning has come entirely against division rivals. If there's anyone it's good to fatten up against, it's these guys.
I like 22 for Plawecki; somebody has to wear that number if the Mets are going to win a World Series. I also, however, think he would have looked good in an 8.
Voting for all four games from last weekend's sweep of the Marlins at Citi Field will close on Wednesday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Some of these games, particularly the last two, are especially light on votes. Schaefer POTG 4/16/15 - Mets 7, Marlins 5 Schaefer POTG 4/17/15: Mets 4 Marlins 1 Schaefer POTG 4/18/15 - Mets 5, Marlins 4 Schaefer POTG 4/19/15 - Mets 7, Marlins 6
This must be bittersweet for Plawecki. Sure, he gets to spend a month or so as a starting big-league catcher, but it kills his chance to be the 1000th Met.

The good news is that there is a lot of depth. But the question is, as the injuries pile up, will it be enough depth? Over the long term, Plawecki may very well turn out to be a better catcher/hitter than d'Arnaud. But over the next few weeks, I expect he'll be a bit of a downgrade. Blevins is probably replaceable too. I'm hoping that both of these guys will be back inside of six weeks, but I have no idea whether that hope is at all realistic.
