Please remember... don't quote somebody else's votes in the voting thread; it can cause the votes to be counted twice. I've removed the above post from the April 6 Schaefer thread and posted it here.
  3. Voting for the season-opening win in Washington will close on Thursday afternoon, some time after 12 p.m. Schaefer POTG 4/6/15 - Mets 3, Nationals 1
  4. For now at least, Nimmo (Binghamton) and Conforto (St. Lucie) are the two guys I'm most interested in.
  5. That sounds a lot like Tom Glavine's last start as a Met.
  6. I don't know; it's been a while since I tallied any Schaefer games! I know it works with the apostrophe, but I'm not sure if it works without it. So for now, I suppose I'd prefer if you included the apostrophe. Thanks for checking!
  7. Duda's two-run single was the first big moment of the season. I wonder if the Mets fans who were pining for Ian Desmond have reevaluated their position? I only saw the last out of the game, but I heard a good chunk on the radio. So while I couldn't see his body language, I did get the sense that Scherzer doesn't take well to misplays. Having the Mets come back and win a game where they had made 17 outs in a row and were being no-hit almost through six is a great feeling. If they can keep this never-say-die attitude going it can be a very good season. There was so much of that in 1986, and for you younger kids, there was a good deal of it in 1999 and through most of 2006 as well.
  8. Blevins 0.3 Carlyle 0.5 Colon 3.5 Duda 2.6 Familia 0.8 Granderson 0.5 CTorres 0.8 d'Arnaud 1
  9. Yes, that's correct! Thanks for mentioning that; I meant to include that in this year's announcement but it slipped my mind. Alex Torres = ATorres Carlos Torres = CTorres
  10. Voting for the 2015 Schaefer Mets Player of the Year Award will begin on Monday, April 6, the Crane Pool Forum has announced. This will be the eleventh season that Crane Pool Forum members will be participating in Schaefer voting. The Schaefer Mets Player of the Year Award was established in the 1970's, and Schaefer points were awarded by Mets broadcasters Lindsey Nelson, Ralph Kiner, and Bob Murphy. The award was re-established by the Crane Pool Forum in 2005. Third baseman David Wright has been the winner in in six of the ten years of the revived prize. The other winners were Johan Santana in 2008, Jose Reyes in 2011, Daniel Murphy in 2013, and Lucas Duda in 2014. A voting thread is opened in the forum at the conclusion of each regular season Mets game, according to CPF spokesmodel Benjamin Grimm. Voting generally stays open for two business days, after which the votes are tallied and the results are posted in the voting thread. In addition, says Grimm, each month a Schaefer Mets Player, Pitcher, Relief Pitcher, and Bench Player of the Month will be named. Voters are asked to adhere to a specific format, which is outlined at http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/6200/f9_t6278.shtml
  11. I'm definitely not buying in to the Dark Knight thing.
  12. Yes, the Mister should definitely have been bigger or bolder then the rest of the text, or italicized. But I don't mind the change to the body proportions. Think of it as a caricature of Mr. Met.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: You gotta figure that 8/4 split will be a short term one ... at least I hope it is. Yes, that's the plan. They're thinking that the starters won't be going as many innings the first time or two through the rotation, so they want an extra guy in the pen.
  14. Pretty much the only thing I watch on SNY is Mets Hot Stove. Most of the other stuff that would interest me is blacked out in my area. But I think they would benefit from a smart talk show, to counter all of the dumb talk shows that they have in abundance. A Bob Costas and/or 60 Minutes kind of thing that would, in each episode, take a serious in-depth look at a local sports issue.
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: Is it me, or is this going to be the longest weekend ever? Exacerbated by it being a 4:00 start rather than the usual 1:00. I'm actually glad for the 4 p.m. start. Means I can listen to the game during my drive home from work.
  16. Did someone rearrange the keys on your computer keyboard?
  17. I like the idea of starting with Gee in the rotation. He can always be displaced by Montero later on, and it saves Montero from pitching too many innings early in the season.
  18. I was thinking "bedazzled" and "fabulous" but I'm probably wrong.
  19. Are they suggesting that losing that World Series was the beginning of the end? I think that more appropriate footage to show would be Joan Payson's funeral.
  20. Wow! 18 and 11? I have to admit I haven't been paying any attention at all to the game results. I kind of sensed that the Mets had a winning record, but that's better than I expected. I know none of this matters until Monday, but it's nice to see how much winning they've been doing.
  21. That means, with the option year in 2020, the Mets will have him under control until he's almost 32 years old.
