    Here's my solution: Don't drop the DH suddenly, leaving owners stuck with contracts. Instead, say that the rule will expire in five years. Or eight years. Or ten. That leaves plenty of time to plan for the change. And to appease the union, expand the active roster from 25 players to 27. Or 28.

    Two key differences between Granderson in 2014 and Murphy in 2015: Granderson was in his first year as a Met, with a multi-year contract. Murphy is almost certainly in his last. The games this season look like they will have more pennant race pressure than last year's games did.

    I don't think they'll bail on Murphy quite yet, but I also think that he has to be on the clock somewhat. The scenarios we've pondered have pretty much been the Mets are out of the race and they trade him, or they're in the race and they keep him. But maybe it turns out that they're in the race, but Murphy is awful and nobody will want him.

    I have no idea if there will be a collapse this time around, but if there is, I'll kind of look forward to it. And deep inside, I think a lot of Mets fans will, too. It's easier when you already expect the worst. First that University of Virginia thing, and now this nonsense. Maybe it's time for The Rolling Stone to stop publishing.

    Voting for Wednesday night's win over the Braves will close over the weekend, but not before 10 a.m. on Saturday. It looks like this game is still a little low on votes.     I'd like to see the streak at least hit 12, since the Mets have never done it before, but I'm really hoping it hits 14. After that, they have my blessing to lose on Monday, if they feel they have to.
