  1. Watching Game 6 now. Royals lead 2-1 in the middle of the 5th, but the Kansas City pitcher, Yordano Ventura, is looking pretty vulnerable. (He just pitched his way out of a jam in the top of the 5th.) He probably only goes another inning or so.
  2. "Hall of Famer" Bill Madden was on SNY's Mets Playoffs Live today. He was comparing the 2015 Mets to previous Mets pennant winners. When he got to the 2000 team, he dismissed them as having Mike Piazza, Carlos Beltran, Benny Agbayani, and not much else. Didn't that team also have Edgardo Alfonzo? And Robin Ventura? And Cleon Jones? And Hubie Brooks? (See, I can be just as ill-informed as Bill Madden.)
  3. Mike Puma, New York Post wrote: Juan Uribe, who was not on the Mets roster for either of the first two rounds of the playoffs due to a chest injury, took grounders and is scheduled to take batting practice Saturday. Still, manager Terry Collins seemed reluctant to place the 36-year-old on the 25-man roster for the World Series following a nearly month-long layoff.
  4. Mike Puma, New York Post wrote: Yoenis Cespedes sat out the Mets workout Friday at Citi Field while continuing to recover from a shoulder injury, with four days left until the dawn of the teams first World Series in 15 years. The teams most dangerous power hitter (non-Daniel Murphy category) did not receive a cortisone shot until Thursday, one day after leaving the Mets NLCS clincher in the second inning due to left shoulder soreness. He is expected at Saturdays full-squad workout.
  5. Mike Puma reporting in the Post that it may be Harvey-deGrom-Syndergaard in the first three games, in order to give deGrom an extra day of rest. Mets may push tired deGrom to Game 2, go Harvey in Game 1
  6. Congressman forced to sing 'Meet the Mets' on House floor after Dodgers lose NLDS I'm pretty sure I've heard better renditions of this song.
  7. I think that was the time Derek Jeter's penis accidentally slipped out of his pants.
  8. I'm sure the University of Michigan has a lot of benefactors who are Tigers fans. There would probably be more pressure to march along with them.
  9. I saw a blue jay in my backyard a few minutes ago. It has to be some kind of an omen. I can't think of any other explanation.
  10. Has Chris Christie attended any of the Mets playoff games? I don't recall seeing him in the crowd. I remember his appearance in the Dallas Cowboys' owners box caused a stir a year or two ago.
  11. You must have had a difficult patch during your childhood. You aged five years from 1969 to 1973.
  12. I agree about Mary, but not about Laverne and Shirley.
  13. DeGrom should be able to pitch a bit in Game 7 on two days rest, if needed. I prefer to see Jacob get his two starts before Game 7 in the hope that the Mets can wrap it up before that 7th game is needed.
  14. I approve of that.
  15. I'm going to have to go to Barnes and Noble to get a copy of this book. I'll go right to the index pages to see if I'm mentioned.
  16. I loved the 2006 Mets too, but I like this team better. And I think that I came to that realization at the conclusion of the Dodgers series. The most joyous moments I've had concerning the Mets, post 1986: [list:2dk8ncc3]That passed ball by Brad Clontz Todd Pratt's series-winning walkoff homer against Arizona 2000 NLDS Game 2: Mets come back after J.T. Snow's homer; John Franco strikes out Barry Bonds. 2000 NLDS Game 3: Benny Agbayani's walkoff September 2001: Mike Piazza homers in the first game after the terrorist attacks. 2012: Johan Santana's no-hitter, which meant more to me than I would have imagined it would. Mets winning Game 5 of the 2015 NLDS. [/list:u:2dk8ncc3]
  17. I've always been on Team Sandy. Team Terry, not so much.
  18. I can't agree with that.
  19. I seem to recall Endy Chavez making a key contribution or two in the 2006 postseason.

  21. You're putting these in the wrong thread. If you want them to be part of the "permanent collection" you should put them in the thread mentioned above.
  22. TransMonk wrote: FWIW, every Cubs fan I have crossed paths with today online or IRL (I live close to their region) has been very gracious in defeat. And I hope that all Mets fans are being gracious in victory.
  23. Here's the thread where this stuff can be found: Find Jeff Wilpon in History
  24. By "we" I mean Mets fans. I wasn't part of any forum in 2000, but I think a lot of the posters here were. I found this group in 2002.
