  1. When Tom Koehler signs his contract, he has to mark it with an X.
  2. Isn't that Dwight Schrute's cousin?
  3. Could it be because they've got some crazy little women there?
  4. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Terry sez Kelly Johnson to DH in Game 1, so I'm guessing the lineup be: Grandy Wright Muffy Cespedes Duda D'Arnaud Johnson Flores Hovvey That lineup is missing an outfielder. Maybe something like this? Granderson Wright Murphy Cespedes Duda d'Arnaud Conforto Flores Johnson
  5. Okay, how about this? I think when cities get expansion teams (or renamed relocated teams) they should name their team after the minor league teams that used to play in that city. The San Diego Padres did this. The Miami Marlins. The Milwaukee Brewers. Kansas City, however, did not. Instead, they took the name Royals which should have gone to another 1969 expansion team, the one in Montreal. It should have been the Montreal Royals. And the Kansas City Blues. (The Kansas City Monarchs would have been a good choice too.)
  6. I think you've taken too many Edgy pills. Okay, it's not a "question" but it's a "request for information."
  7. Q: Describe what it's like to be in the World Series. A: It's a great feeling. It's what we play for, beginning in spring training. There are just so many ways to ask and answer the same question.
  8. I don't think I need to hate them. I just want them to lose four of the next seven games, and then they can all get on with their lives.
  9. I think The Sporting News is more in need of a comeback than Matt Harvey ever was.
  10. I think he failed to be an adequate choice as a starting outfielder. I think he's a better-than-average right-handed bench player.
  11. I was very happy for the layoff, but I'm ready to jump back into the fray. About 33 and a half hours to go.
  12. Well, there's what seems, and what actually is. He undeniably had a bad September, but in July and August he was a valuable role player: [list:1655ef1k]July, 10 games: .310/.355/.510 August, 17 games: .375/.423/.583[/list:u:1655ef1k]

  14. Gross! I hope they get him off the field before the game starts.
  15. National Weather Service wrote: Kansas City, Missouri Tuesday A chance of showers after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 58. East northeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Tuesday Night A chance of showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Not too bad, especially if it really does end before 8 p.m. (The thing I'd really hate to see happen is a lengthy rain delay that causes the game to start after 10 p.m.) Wednesday's forecast calls for sunshine.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Cuddy isn't sucky! If I have to put it on a bumper sticker, I will! I have no idea why Willets is so consistently down on Cuddyer. While it's true that he hasn't been as good as the Mets had hoped, and that he hasn't played up to his salary, he's certainly been a contributor.
  17. Just to ponder some possibilities... The weather forecast for Kansas City for Tuesday includes showers. If there's a rainout, then I imagine we'd lose the travel day, playing games 1 and 2 on Wednesday and Thursday and then to Citi Field on Friday. What would that mean for Game 5, then? Harvey on three days rest? Or a start for Colon or Niese instead?
  18. Well, then we'd better hope he's not a jinx!
  19. The Mets have won the N.L. East every year that they've been on SNY, except for the years that Kevin Burkhardt was their sideline reporter. We loved Kevin, but I'm afraid he was holding the Mets back.
  20. The Mets have been really good at jumping out to early leads lately. Naturally, we hope that continues.
  21. It's always fun to see a photo of a dog licking its nose. It's like they sense the camera and decide it's a good time to lick their noses. I'm sure that if humans could do that, that would be the standard for posed photographs. Instead of "Say Cheese!" it would be "Lick Your Nose!"
  22. Word is that it will be Harvey in Game 1, followed by deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz.
  23. We've discussed Ben Zobrist in this forum more than once. Zobrist Let us now resume our pursuit of a new shortstop And in this thread the idea of trading Steven Matz for Zobrist was floated, but nobody wanted to claim responsibility for proposing the deal.
  24. Ooooh! A paragraph!
  25. Yup. That's what he said.
