  1. If that's true, the Mets should try a reverse jinx this year. Activate Jerry Koosman and Jerry Grote for one inning and see what happens.
  2. I think good hitters should be ready to swing when it's 3-0. The main difference between 3-0 and 3-1 is that, at 3-0, if you take a strike you still have a nice advantage in the count, but if you take a strike at 3-1, then your advantage is gone. But your question wasn't "why not take 3-1?", it was "why not swing 3-0?"
  3. Cespedes will rejoin the team on Thursday, but he can't be activated until Friday (from what I understand). As for Wheeler, they're starting to say things like, "Sometimes Tommy John surgery doesn't work." That's clearly not a good sign.
  4. If there's a Kiner's Korner in heaven, the show just got itself a helluva guest.

  6. I'm seeing a black stripe too, but I can't be sure it's the same black stripe. My stripe is vertical!
  7. Voting for all games played between July 23 and July 31 will close next Monday morning, August 22, some time after 7 a.m. The race for Player of the Year, by the way, is fairly close at this point. At the moment, only 2.37 points separates the player in first place from the player in fourth place.
  8. I found this image, on a website called kcmets.com:
  9. I seem to remember that Davey Johnson was JOHNSON but Howard Johnson was H. JOHNSON.

  11. Centerfield wrote: Conforto out. Sophomore jinx continues. The great April he had, combined with all of the gushing from Keith Hernandez, made me think we had a superstar in the making. It seems wise to perhaps reevaluate that expectation. At least for the short term. He's still young, and may yet blossom. And hopefully if he does, it will be while he still plays his home games in Queens.
