    This article in the New York Post says that in addition to Bob Geren and Chip Hale, the Mets are considering Kevin Long, Robin Ventura, Alex Cora, and Moose Stubing. Odds are high Mets next Terry Collins will be a familiar face I may have to refamiliarize myself with Alex Cora's face.

    I went about six weeks this year without watching any baseball, and when I came back to it and heard Gary again I found myself rolling my eyes a lot. And by the way: HE NEEDS TO STOP SAYING JAY-OR-REESE! Jeez, learn the fucking guy's name, will you?

    Me neither. First year since 2003 that I won't have attended at least one Mets game. First year since 2004 that I haven't attended at least one Mets home game. The season went into the toilet so early this year. The dismal signs began in April and never really let up.

    I know it's not the most accurate of stats, and it's no longer in vogue, but a nice W-L record still looks good on the back of the baseball card.

    It won't cost deGrom a start, anyway. Whether starting on Friday or Sunday, he still has two starts remaining this year. While 17 wins isn't exactly unprecedented, it is a pretty impressive number these days. It would be a nice thing for him to reach that total.
