Sometimes I wish my name was "Myles Straw".
-
That seems to have been the plan for quite a while now.

Born on Jesus' birthday and died on George Washington's birthday. First Met to die in 2018.

That's not Jacob Rhame?
-
Just kidding! I think he'll be a solid contributor to this team. 30 homers, 95 rbi.

I wonder how many confused fans think that the Mets are wearing San Diego Padres caps?

He may have a bit of a speech impediment. I don't think that the words he says sound childish. Hopefully this one lateness is an aberration, and one with a good explanation. It's obvious that he worked hard this offseason.

Jeez. Well, Mickey gets to start his managing career by sending a message. He is all about "accountability". I hope Dom wasn't late because he stopped at a pizzeria.

The 1983 Mets had Seaver, Staub, Kingman, and Jorgensen.

Jacob deGrom's wife has given birth to the couple's second child, a baby girl named... Aniston.

I think MLB.tv is available in every country except Japan, if I remember correctly. I've been meaning to test it when I'm traveling, but I've never remembered to do so. I was in the UK last summer, and I think I could have watched the Mets on the phone app, but with the time difference and the busyness of traveling, I never got to try it. Since I live in the Philadelphia market, I can't see Phillies games on the app. I was in Boston two summers ago, and meant to try seeing if I could, while there, watch the Phillies and not the Red Sox, but again, I forgot to give it a try. I expect, though, that that's what would have happened.

If his arm falls off in May, he'll go on the DL in mid-June.

I do think that Jerry is the guy in the bullpen this year in whom I have the most faith.

Listerine (And Other Adventures in Old Mets Photos)
Benjamin Grimm replied to Edgy MD's topic in New York Mets Talk
I have to admit, I didn't really know what Billy Graham looked like! When I saw an actor portraying him on The Crown this season, I didn't think that there was much of a resemblance, but it actually was pretty good. (What does any of this have to do with UMDB and MBTN, by the way?) -
I don't even care if he's effective, as long as he's lanky!
-
Is the game today? Or on the 23rd, as the title of this thread suggests?
-
I thought I was the only one! Maybe we can start a support group or something.
-
I think because of his unrepaired injury, the Mets don't want Lugo in the bullpen where he might have to pitch more frequently. The buzz is that he's more likely to be in the Vegas rotation.
-
Conforto says he's aiming to return by May 1. That's the date that I've been storing in my head, but who knows?
-
Yeah, Bruce was the bird in the hand. I don't object to the way they played that.

It's worth a shot, anyway. If he's below average, he's only out there in emergency situations. If he can be somewhat better than that, it makes the roster more versatile and it gets Wilmer's bet in the lineup more often. Might as well take advantage of spring training to see how viable an option this is.
-
Wilmer is starting his outfield training. The Mets are experimenting with Wilmer Flores Mike Puma wrote: Flores, according to manager Mickey Callaway, will begin taking fly balls in the next day or two from outfield coach Ruben Amaro Jr. “I learned how to play first base to be in the lineup,” Flores said Monday. “If I have to learn how to be in the outfield to get at least one more game, I will do it.” Callaway also intends to have Jose Reyes take fly balls during camp. Last season Reyes played two games in the outfield.

Syndergaard has only had two full seasons, 2016 and 2017. DeGrom's first full season was 2015.

And Familia is eligible for free agency this coming offseason.
