  1. The problem is that Mickey blew through too many of his pitchers early, and let Lugo throw too many pitches the day before.
  2. I'm okay with him having left Wilson in. The game could have gone into extra innings, and Familia and Diaz were the only remaining pitchers available.

  7. I can't believe that Gary Cohen didn't know about Rick Ownbey's Frisbee skills. Of course, he also doesn't know how to pronounce "Jeurys".
  8. I just realized I forgot to post my annual announcement about how Schaefer voting will continue. So here it is: Schaefer voting will continue, mainly because it's so automated that I don't really have to do very much. I'll continue to post the "This game is now available for Schaefer voting" graphic (like the one below) in the IGT threads as appropriate. And I'll post a notice in this thread every couple of weeks when I'm about to close down the voting on a block of games. I may also post the Player of the Month announcements here too, since the individual threads for each month haven't gotten much attention lately. Will I keep making the 1970s baseball cards to go with the announcements? Probably, because I enjoy doing those, but maybe not if the mood doesn't strike me. 11. Even though it pictures Seaver in a Reds uniform, I included "Look Who's In Cincy" because it represents a major turning point in Mets history.

  13. Has the order of the starting rotation been announced yet? I'm thinking it's deGrom/Syndergaard/Wheeler/Matz/Vargas unless they don't like having their two lefties go back-to-back. Then maybe Wheeler goes fourth and either Matz or Vargas goes third? It looks like the only starter that's been announced so far is deGrom on Thursday. On MLB.com, both Saturday's and Sunday's starters are TBD.
  14. I don't think the three-hitter rule isn't in effect this year, is it? I think it's scheduled for 2020.
  15. Perhaps there aren't many agents who want to represent a Long Island Duck.
  16. And if Alonso is struggling in May, for example, they can send him to Syracuse for two weeks to get himself right, and they'd also get that service time bonus that they would have had if he didn't go north with the club. This isn't a prediction, just a possibility.

  20. The deal has been officially announced.
  21. There are two more Tom and Nancy covers. We'll see one tomorrow in Round 1.07 and another on April 11 in Round 1.16.
  22. Twenty years ago we had next door neighbors named Tom and Nancy and I never made the connection with the Seavers until now.
  23. Wheeler is more complicated because he has less of a track record. He probably prefers to try to bolster his value with a solid 2019 before signing a multi-year contract.
  24. I voted "Flushing" but I love "Mettle".
  25. Thirty years later, wood bats don't yet seem all that "doomed."
