  4. Ed Kranepool Surprisingly, no! Just kidding. http://leaptoad.com/mets/photos/0940.jpg>http://leaptoad.com/mets/photos/0150.jpg>http://leaptoad.com/mets/photos/0007.jpg>

  6. The obvious first take on this is that McNeil is sitting.
  7. Last night, Jeurys Familia joined a pretty exclusive club. He's one of only 17 players to have appeared in ten or more Mets seasons. Let's name the other 16! Six of them are pitchers and ten are position players. Usual rules apply: No more than one pick per post, and no consecutive posts. Once you've posted, please wait until someone else has posted a name before you go again.
  8. Me neither. If you had asked me if the Mets ever had a pitcher named "Tim Peterson" I probably would have said no. He's from Puyallup, Washington. That's a town that sounds like it should be in Arkansas or somewhere like that. "Puyallup a chair and I'm make you some grits!"
  9. I remember having that same frustration with the crawl. You watch for a while, waiting for them to get to baseball, then to the Mets, and if it's interrupted by a commercial break, you may miss the score you were waiting for. But that was before smart phones; you can now get the score whenever you want. I can't remember the last time I watched a crawl looking for an update.

  11. I hope Trevor May doesn't appear in every game this season.
  12. Those three lost games will most likely be made up with doubleheaders.
  13. I don't get it either. I suppose those jerseys are supposed to mean something, but whatever it is, I have no idea.

Phillies phans in my pheed all spoke of pheeling the game was a lost cause until deGrom was liphted. I was watching the Phillies telecast because it's the only one available to me. (The SNY broadcast is blacked out in my area when the Mets play the Phillies.) The Phillies guys, John Kruk and the guy who was with the Mets briefly (forget his name) were shaking their heads, as were the studio guys they were talking to. (Ricky Bottalico and someone else.) They couldn't understand why deGrom was being removed, and saw it as an opportunity that was being handed to them. And, of course, they were right.
  15. Bumping this to the new page. Benjamin Grimm wrote: http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/schaefer5.jpg> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/index.phpCast your vote!

  17. Cross-posted with bmfc1. We were both thinking the same thing at the same time.
  18. I was as dismayed as everyone else when deGrom was pulled, but I'm not sure it's why the Mets lost. I had expected that deGrom would pitch the 7th and that Rojas would go to May for the 8th. If that was going to be the case, then Castro's scoreless inning just replaced deGrom's scoreless inning, and the implosion would have happened anyway. However, if deGrom could have gone 8 innings (and he really might have been able to) then that's a different story entirely. Rojas definitely did screw up. But the screwups by May and Loup were what really responsible for the loss.
  19. I'm really glad the Mets fortified the bullpen with May and Loup.
  20. So much for the lemonade of vinyl.
  21. The one that will forever stand out in my memory is Gary Carter 1985.
  22. It turned out to be surprisingly accurate. 🤔
  23. I know. Hasn't even thought about it. Good grief. Carrasco has had the vaccine, and so has Chili Davis. I'd like to see more players state that they're getting vaccinated, not just the one who has recovered from leukemia.
  24. Yes, but he didn't provide any conjecture about who would be at the other end of the spectrum.
