  1. What's with the slanted knob on Darin Ruf's bat?
  2. That guy is too old to be waving toilet paper around at the ballpark.
  3. Any word on the phantom extra-inning runner?
  4. Two Happy Outcomes yesterday, losses by the Phillies and Cardinals. And two Unhappy Outcomes, a pair of wins by the Brewers. Mets, Braves, Dodgers, and Padres were idle. 5. It was chosen because it's the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15. This, of course, raises the question of why Hispanic Heritage Month starts on the 15th instead of the 1st.
  6. I know if I don't open this now I'll probably forget...

  9. Three Happy Outcomes yesterday: Two wins by the Mets and a loss by the Brewers Five Unhappy Outcomes, as the Braves, Dodgers, Cardinals, Phillies, and Padres all won. The NHOP over Atlanta is still above .500, dropping from .519 to .510. The Mets' Magic Number over Milwaukee is down to 11. The Mets have a 15-game lead over the Brewers, so even though the division title is very much in jeopardy, a spot in the postseason is all but certain. 10. In the nightcap, deGrom tries to get a sweep of the doubleheader.
  11. Alonso batted second 70 times in 2019, 4 times in 2020 and 30 times last year. This is his first time in that spot this season. In 2022 so far, he's hit third 5 times and cleanup 130 times.
  12. Starting lineup, according to MLB.com. Pete in the number 2 slot. Bassitt gets the day game, deGrom will pitch tonight. Nimmo CF Alonso 1B Lindor SS McNeil 2B Vogelbach DH Canha LF Naquin RF Escobar 3B Nido C Bassitt P
  13. Things are not trending well here! Six Unhappy Outcomes yesterday: A loss by the Mets and wins by the Braves, Phillies, Cardinals, Padres, and Dodgers. Only one Happy Outcome: A loss by the Brewers. So the only good news is that the Mets are a little bit closer to clinching a Wild Card spot, but unfortunately, a little bit closer to needing to do that. The NHOP over the Braves has jumped to .519, meaning that the Mets now need more things to go right than wrong in games played by both teams. 15. His OBP with the Mets (.389) is higher than McNeil (.370), Nimmo (.352), Canha (.369), and everyone else other than Khalil Lee (only two plate appearances). So yeah, he gets on base.
  16. I wish they could have a designated runner for when this particular designated hitter gets on base.
  17. Voting for all games played through September 1, the final game of the series against the Dodgers, will close on Tuesday, September 13. If there are any games that you still intend to vote for, please do so in the next week. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now!
  18. Three Happy Outcomes on Monday, losses by the Cardinals, Padres, and Dodgers. One Unhappy Outcome, a win by the Brewers. Mets were idle due to a rainout, Braves and Phillies weren't on the schedule. 21. Three Happy Outcomes yesterday: Losses by the Phillies, Brewers, and Padres. But four Unhappy Outcomes: Loss by the Mets, and wins by the Braves, Cardinals, and Dodgers. The good news, such as it is, is that the consolation prize of the Wild Card berth is drawing closer. Magic Number for the postseason is down to a mere 15, with 27 games remaining. The NHOP over the Braves has now risen to .500, meaning that the Mets no longer have an advantage there. 23. Only two Happy Outcomes yesterday: Losses by the Phillies and the Padres. Five Unhappy Outcomes: The Mets lost and the Dodgers, Braves, Cardinals, and Brewers all won. 24. Braves beat the Marlins in the bottom of the 9th, so the Mets' division lead narrows to two games.
