1. Link please? It's not official until it's in the UMDB, so for the moment, Joe Christopher remains the seventh oldest living Met.
2. Number 15 for me. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 184 9/9: Rarity: 109 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.comhttps://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref
3. From Newsday, August 24, 1964: http://leaptoad.com/mets/clippings/004400.jpg>
4. It seems clear that the Brewers and Mets talked about Alonso. But it's not at all clear how significant that is. It may just be that the Brewers approached the Mets, and the Mets listened and rejected a deal. It doesn't mean that the Mets were "shopping" Alonso, although many seem to have drawn that conclusion.
5. He comes across as likable, for whatever that's worth. I'm sixty years old. My hope is that David Stearns does a good enough job that he'll be in this position for the rest of my life. Encouraging news about Pete. It does seem unlikely that he'll be dealt this offseason, but I suppose you can't rule out some irresistible offer. They're not going to punt on 2024. I never thought they would. I wonder if Max Scherzer misinterpreted what they were saying to him, or if they lied to him to get him to accept the trade? Stearns is casting a wide net in the search for a manager. It may be someone who has managed before, or it may be someone who hasn't. My hunch is it will be someone who hasn't yet turned fifty. But we'll see. Nothing about the coaching staff. I take it that they're not all automatically gone, but that Stearns will evaluate each one on his merits and maybe some of them will come back. or maybe none of them will. The new manager will likely have a say in that as well.
6. This is holding up the season-ending wrap-up for the UMDB, and for Schaefer! Don't these maniacs know what they're doing???!??!
7. So what's the verdict on this game? We know it's not going to be completed, but who gets the win? Baseball Reference's stats have the Mets at 162 games, but with only 161 decisions. The standings on MLB.com have the Mets and Marlins also having played 161 games. Nobody won this game? But it's not a tie? Is this how it's going to remain?
8. I would have gotten a better score if I had used Harmon Killebrew for the Royals Hall of Famer.
9. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 181 9/9: Rarity: 218 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.comhttps://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref My 14th win. This was an easy one.
10. My 13th win. Rarity score 67. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 180 9/9: Rarity: 67 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩
11. So how does this work? If the game doesn't resume, I think the Marlins' ninth inning gets wiped out (because the Mets didn't have a ninth inning), and the Mets win 1-0. That's the way it used to work, anyway. I don't know if that rule is still in effect.
12. I'm glad I don't have to make these kinds of decisions! Soto hasn't even turned 25 yet. He's certainly worth giving up some prospects for, but which ones and how many? I'd want to keep Mauricio and Alverez. I'm less attached to Baty and Vientos, but they probably also have less trade value right now. Gilbert? Acuna? Are they untouchable? Should they be? Like I said, I'm glad I don't have to decide.

15. I wonder if the hold on number 8 is an edict from above, or if it's just the discretion of whoever is doing Charlie Samuels' old job?
16. Below Steve Trachsel. Ouch.
17. Alonso now tied with HoJo for fourth place with 192 home runs.
18. This is the twelfth time I've been immaculate. Rarity score of 61. I had thought about trying to go with all old-timers, guys who played before I became a fan, but even though all of the teams were original franchises, I couldn't fill out that first column. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 178 9/9: Rarity: 61 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.comhttps://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref
19. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=138273 time=1695792441 user_id=68] Here's another one: What's Carlos Beltran's lifetime Mets batting average to the tenth decimal?
20. Once the season ends, a lot of focus will be on Pete Alonso. Will he be traded? Will he be extended? Will he become a free agent? What's gonna happen????
