I've seen speculation in a number of places that the Mets might look to add Cody Bellinger to their outfield. (It's possible, of course, that all of this commentary is coming from one questionable source. Who can say anymore?) Anyway, if the world at large is talking about it, then we can too. I don't expect this to happen, we'll see how the buzz develops over the next month or two. https://imageio.forbes.com/specials-images/imageserve/64b56ef6dd2b111d06534a09/Chicago-Cubs-v--Los-Angeles-Dodgers/960x0.jpg?format=jpg&width=1440>

That surprised me too. I don't recall ever hearing that about Japanese players with Japanese teammates. Surely there's precedent for an American team having more than one Japanese player at a time? I thought about the Mets, and did a spot-check. Kaz Matsui was a teammate of Shingo Takatsu in 2005. I expect there are other examples.

We know we're going to, so we might as well start now. Me, I hope they get this guy! Kodai Senga is reportedly lobbying both sides (the Mets and Yamamoto) to come together. Rumor has it that the Mets, Yankees, Giants, and Dodgers are the top contenders. https://media.bleacherreport.com/image/upload/x_149,y_31,w_1646,h_1094,c_crop/w_800,h_533,c_fill/v1698067513/axfkfpufzerdmsgiiuvp.jpg>

That was one of only eight tie games in Mets history.

Four teams in the league (I think): The Cobras, the Monarchs, the Falcons, and the Wolves. https://www.baseballunited.com/teams/https://www.baseballunited.com/teams/ I don't know how the other "national teams" factor in.

Today would have been Mantle's 92nd birthday. I hadn't been aware that Keith and Mantle shared a birthday. My girlfriend's son is 16 today. He has such a complete contempt and loathing for sports that he would not care at all that he shares a birthday with Keith Hernandez and Mickey Mantle. So I don't think I'll mention it.

Gilbert seems like Lenny Dykstra, but hopefully only in the good ways. Of the players the Mets acquired during the Big Selloff, I think he's the one I have the most optimism about.

=Brittany Ghiroli, The Athletic] It's fair to wonder where Ng goes from here, as both current open general manager jobs come with caveats. There is Boston, where people in the industry remain wary of a job in which ownership has cycled through multiple candidates over the past five years, and one in which any new GM will be inheriting most of its front office as well as manager Alex Cora, who has considerable power, according to industry sources. There's also the Mets' GM job, though David Stearns was hired as president to oversee the organization earlier this month, and thus Ng would again be No. 2.

=Fman99 post_id=139503 time=1697473998 user_id=86] I wouldn't normally expect to get the whole grid when all 9 boxes are two team combos but I got it today.

It seems like the trend in the industry is that the GM position won't be as glamorous or powerful as it once was.
