  1. 5 is John Franco. There, I did it!
  2. https://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2024/20240105_NYP_02.jpg> Do we think that they would give him Jacob deGrom's uniform number?
  3. He just turned 26. Hasn't done much in the big leagues (played in 96 games for the Pirates in 2022, hitting .206 with 11 homers in 283 plate appearances) but had what looks like a nice season in AAA (Arizona's Reno affiliate) in 2023. (124 games, .313/.431/.410 33 doubles, 3 homers and 94 runs scored).
  4. . https://www.foxnews.com/sports/trevor-bauer-more-than-open-signing-mets-2021-offseason-fiascoTrevor Bauer 'more than open' to signing with Mets after 2021 offseason fiasco TREVOR BAUER SAYS HE'S GROWN FROM 'MISTAKES' IN THE PAST, HOPES FOR 'SECOND OPPORTUNITY' IN MLB If "Uncle Stevie" came calling this time around, Bauer says he'd be "happy" to play in Queens. "The Mets have a great thing going on," Bauer said. "Obviously, those players I've played with – I really respect [former Cleveland teammate] Francisco Lindor as a leader, as a player, he's one of the best out there." "Playing in New York would be awesome. The fan bases here are crazy. I'd be more than open to it." I really don't see this happening, but who knows? I wasn't aware that Bauer was among the crop of current free agents.
  5. I'm sure Donald Trump does. He knows more about everything than everyone.
  6. That would make Ogden Nash proud! https://www.fosters.com/gcdn/authoring/2008/02/07/NFDD/ghows-FD-d42fbba3-d963-40ec-825a-14d0307972f5-5ea69137.jpeg?width=1200&disable=upscale&format=pjpg&auto=webp>
  7. The posting deadline for Imanaga expires in six days, so we'll know soon enough. I do hope they sign him.
  8. I'm thinking that we may end up seeing McNeil play third more than anyone else this year. This could happen if Baty and Vientos flop and Acuna rises.
  9. Yes, but not in that order. The breaks are because there's less traffic here on the weekends.
  10. I guess he's the guy they got instead of Michael A. Taylor. If he bats ninth and plays a decent center field, he might turn out to be a good addition. But as Marshmallow said above, they need to add a big bat, a DH who can give us 30 homers or so. It's January. I imagine things are really going to start to happen, not only for the Mets but for many other clubs too.
  11. I have to wonder why Peter Schmuck hasn't changed his name.
  12. Yes, this is the strongest entry the Post has had in years. They've never won a Tabloid Cover Derby (we've had four Daily News winners followed by four Newsday winners) but they're going for it this year. It's the last Post cover remaining in the competition.
  13. The Mets' City Connect cap should have the Unisphere instead of the NY insignia.
  14. We're going to take a little break now. The third round will resume for its second half on Monday, January 8.

  16. If it's six months he will be back in July. Eight months would be September. So he has a chance to play a little this season, if things go well.

  20. I tend to think of corner infielders and middle infielders as being in different categories. If we compare him to just middle infielders, his main competitors are Jose Reyes and Edgardo Alfonzo.
  21. The Tabloid Cover Derby will resume on Monday! Be there, or be elsewhere!
  22. I wouldn't object to this (not that I have the power to do so) but I'd prefer Jorge Soler or Teoscar Hernandez because Martinez is almost exclusively a DH. Still, they can use the bat, and if Martinez is the one that they get, they'll be better for it.
  23. I think he's praising former Monkee Peter Noone.
  24. Because he has a Twitter account?
