  1. I want Beltran to make this a non-save situation.
  2. Now let's see if "Eddie Munster" can put us in the lead...
  3. In play! Run(s)!
  4. Walk to Franco loads 'em up for Reyes.
  5. Delgado's having a good day. GameDay tells me "#4 in play run(s)" and I have to sit and wait to see if it's a three-run homer or a one-run single. Let's see Wright put the ball in play for run(s).
  6. Hopefully the Mets can answer with at least one run here. Two quick strikes on David Wright to lead off.

  8. It looks like Burgos is pitching to Howard. Good. I'm okay with that...
  9. That's the mark of a good broadcaster.
  10. I can also see a lot of pickoff attempts. I'm reminded of Tim McCarver saying, "You gotta worry about the guy with the stick in his hands!"
  11. Burgos retires Hamels, and now it's the top of the order in the sixth. If he holds the Phillies here, he'll be my all-time favorite guy named Ambiorix.
  12. And Burgos retires Nunez to end the inning. Halfway through, score tied at two.
  13. Maine doesn't make it through the fifth. He's replaced by Burgos with two out.
  14. MLB Game Day says "Coaching visit to the mound." Hmmm, two out and John Maine at the plate. What's there to talk about?
  15. Jose gets it done; singles in two runs!
  16. And they're underway! Both sides go down in order in the first. Hamels fans both Reyes and Beltran.
  17. Off Neil Allen. That was one of my favorite Opening Day moments. It's a tossup between that and Tom Seaver's return in 1983.
  18. I remember how cold I was at that 1985 game. When it went into extra innings, I thought that the next morning somebody would show up at Shea and see a bunch of frozen corpses and wonder what had happened.
  19. Enjoy the game all you ticket-holders. Opening Day used to be a tradition with me. I first went at the age of 14 in 1978 and attended every opener from then through 1992. I had tickets for 1993 but I was recovering from a nasty and long-lasting illness and thought better of going to Queens and sitting in the cold and the wind. That, and the Mets awful play in 1993, broke the spell, and I didn't even consider going in 1994. I still, somewhere, have a few unused tickets to that 1993 opener, and maybe someday I'll dig them up and sell them on eBay to a Colorado Rockies fan. (It was the first game they ever played.)
  20. Voting for all three games in Atlanta will close on Wednesday morning. Friday Saturday Sunday
  21. Wow, I had forgotten all about that little example! I probably wrote that seven years ago.
  22. Yeah, that was made up, as was the entire origin of both the FF and Doom.
  23. I probably could. So I'll sit this thread out unless I'm asked to verify something.
  24. If Perez does his job, the Mets should be able to win. Don't put it past Oliver to give up eight runs, though.

You know, I wish I had an interesting story to tell about that but I don't. I seem to remember very early on comparing lists with the future Johnny Dickshot. I might have had a few players for his list and he may have had a couple for mine, but we cross checked each other in the first month or two of both of our sites being live. The list of players has been complete pretty much from the very beginning.
