  1. Facebook makes reporters obsolete???
  2. I gave Beltran and Delgado equal points, but Beltran would have had more (the extra hit and the stolen base) if not for the misplay in center field.
  3. Voting for Wednesday night's 11-4 loss in Atlanta will close some time over the Memorial Day weekend: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=9051
  4. I'd like a college guy on the fast track. And if it turns out that the Mets have Teixiera next year, then the kid would be a good trading chip.

  8. And Randolph hasn't returned my calls. I need to yell at him about Eric Heilman.
  9. A lot of wishful thinking in that. He may be right, though. The season is young, (or youngish) and teams that look done in May often do get their acts together. It's entirely possible that the Mets can do that this year. I'm not confident or optimistic, but I am hopeful. There's still reason to be hopeful.
  10. We can start talking about releasing Delgado once we have someone better to replace him with. And we simply don't. I don't see how trading Beltran (doesn't he have a no-trade?) solves anything either. Maybe if the Mets were in rebuilding mode, but they're not, and they shouldn't be. This team is going to have to figure out how to win in its current configuration, more or less. They can tinker, but I don't see how they can overhaul the team during the current season. They don't have much youth to trade, and their older players don't have a lot of trade value, either because of their age or their salary. I do like that Wright is saying what he's saying. Once he gets rid of that unseemly youth of his, he has the makings of a good team leader/captain.
  11. Why is there such an epidemic of missed home run calls lately? It's bizarre. If there are too many purists who don't like the idea of instant replay, then you need to put two umpires in the outfield, like in postseason games. And they wouldn't be able to be overruled by the guys in the infield.
  12. Rocky Easley? I sense a Neil Diamond song parody: Rock me gently, Rocky Easley No Easley, no Alou, no Church, no roster moves. Are the Mets going to have enough players to field a team tonight? Maybe they can borrow Roger McDowell and put him in the outfield for old times sakes.
  13. I knew I was setting someone up for a joke. You would have gotten extra points, though, if you had worked Senator Larry Craig into it.
  14. Didn't they also shift the field when they rebuilt Yankee Stadium? I think they did. Which means that Giambi isn't standing where Gehrig stood, and Posada isn't squatting where Berra and Dickey squatted.
  15. Let me write this down... Avoid... making... errors... I'm also going to mention that it would be helpful if he could get his team to win 20 of the next 25 games.

  18. I received this e-mail last night: ]PLEASE INFORM RANDOLF THAT HIS COACHING ON ERIC HIELMAN HAS BEEN PATHETIC. HE COULD NOT DO THE JOB LAST YHEAR AT THE END OF THE SEASON, AND CAN NOT DO IT THIS YEAR. YOU SHOULD REPLACE HIELMAN. ANY MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER COULD REPLACE HIM.
  19. I don't think Delgado's "washed up" either. His best days are definitely behind him, but he will probably give us about 20 or so homers and hit about .240 to .250. Not at all what we're paying him for, but not bad for a number 7 hitter.

  21. Voting for both ends of Tuesday's day-night doubleheader in Atlanta will close on Friday morning. Afternoon game Nightcap Voting for the second game is particularly light. So far, we only have votes from themetfairy, Benjamin Grimm, Fman99, John Cougar Lunchbucket, AG/DC, and soupcan.
  22. Box score Reyes 1 Wright 0.5 Wagner 0.25 Beltran 0.5
  23. ]Church added that he was still spitting out small rocks late into the night. Weird. But not as weird as blue arms.
  24. Wow indeed. And those first two points look like they could have been written by Bret Sabermetric.
  25. I was at that game! And I don't recall seeing Tom Wilson there! (I wonder... is it the short-term Mets catcher, or the Ziggy cartoonist?)
