I'm glad he's still in the organization.

I was also getting a little bit of a Phil Niekro vibe.

Nate Dohm looks like he's 45 years old in that photo.

That's how I assumed it would be pronounced, to rhyme with "henge" as in Stonehenge.

I was sure that George Foster's "Metsmerized" was going to be boffo.

Sproat seems like an up-and-comer. Anyone care to house and feed him until he gets to the big leagues?

I think Iglesias is really the guy who came out of nowhere.
  13. Benjamin Grimm
He grew up in my house and I have no memories of him.

So winning that August 5 game can have extra importance if the Mets finish in a tie with the Cardinals.
  16. Benjamin Grimm
And they're 3-2 against the Cardinals. Does that mean there's a makeup game still to be played?

Also... I guess this means we have a magic number right now! (But no, I'm not going to calculate it. It's definitely too soon for that.)

Of course I want them to make the postseason, but my shorter term goal, for the remainder of the month, is for them to stay close enough to prevent a selloff.

I mostly remember Wilson Valdez for spilling oil all over Alaska.

No wonder why I can never remember who is in the bullpen at any given time, and why a year or two later the names of Mets relievers look totally unfamiliar to me. From this year's group, I'll probably remember Diaz, Ottavino, Raley, Smith, Garrett, and Lopez. All of the others will be potentially forgotten, depending of course on what their futures are like. But there's no way I'm going to remember Cole Sulser. I've already forgotten him!

=DocTee post_id=161985 time=1720623009 user_id=85] Looking at those stat lines and trying to figure out how Nimmo got squeezed.

I wouldn't have guessed that Bob Uecker was still alive. Good for him!
