  2. Fun fact: This was the 10,000th Mets game that counts! (Total of regular-season and post-season games.)
  3. My usual Met/Astro is Jerry Grote.
  4. I can reset your vote and you can try again if you like. Just let me know.

  6. [bIGPURPLE]FINAL REMINDER![/bIGPURPLE] Benjamin Grimm wrote: http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now! Voting for all games played prior to the All-Star Break will close on Tuesday, July 23. If there are any games that you haven't yet voted for, and intend to, please try to do so over the next week.
  7. I couldn't think of a Phillie/Padre. (Fernando Valenzuela was one! I never would have guessed!) All of the other eight boxes were easy.

  10. This is from Tim Healy: * Friday: Sean Manaea * Saturday: Jose Quintana * Sunday: Luis Severino * Monday: Christian Scott
  11. 1. OPS? Martinez 2. home runs? Alonso 3. RBI? Lindor 4. Pitcher wins? Severino 5. Pitcher strikeouts? Manaea 6. Saves? Diaz 7. Who is the SHaMVP? Lindor
  12. There are four Mets who currently have enough plate appearances (295) to qualify for the batting title. (Or, for these purposes, the team lead in the three slash categories.) They are Lindor, Alonso, Nimmo, and McNeil. Bader is 10 plate appearances shy and Martinez is short by 17. So who leads the Mets in slugging percentage, I'm sure you're wondering. Well, if we only go to three decimal places, it's a three-way tie at .454! Francisco Lindor: .454308 Brandon Nimmo: .454277 Pete Alonso: .453552 J.D. Martinez would be ahead of all of them, at .456790. The Mets leader in batting average is Lindor at .253, although Bader is at .273. And in OBP, Nimmo leads with .361. This concludes today's fun fact.
  13. Quintana. Interesting. I would have guessed Severino. Have the pitchers for the rest of the Miami series been announced yet?
  14. And it can rub people the wrong way. That's all I'm saying.
  15. What if someone posted "Bananas are tasty" and you responded with "Who the fuck cares about bananas! Why are you wasting my time talking about bananas! What the fuck does that have to do with what's going on today!" Don't you see that that's a bit extreme? And would feel like an attack?
  16. I saw someone (probably not anyone credible) suggesting the Mets trade Baty, Parada, and Sproat to the White Sox for a reliever named Garrett Crochet. I would like the proposal better if Sproat was replaced with someone else.
  17. It's really strange to react with such hostility to a simple post about next year's schedule. I could spend hours each day if I decided to push back against every thread that I wasn't interested in. Instead I decided to go with the radical option of simply not responding.
  18. They only play one series each year against American League teams, either home or away but not both. (With the exception of the Yankees.)
  19. That Anthony Young is dead at the present time.

  21. Looking ahead... David Peterson?
  22. Yeah, when I was a kid the All-Star game was a big deal. The stars seemed bigger then. It was fun to be able to root for, rather than against, guys like Stargell and Bench and McCovey. I know there are many good players today, but I'm much less familiar with them.
  23. Let's hope he's a good pickup. What more can we do?
  24. She certainly embarrassed herself, but I have a hard time seeing how she "insulted America".
  25. I haven't watched an All-Star Game since, I think, 1992. But I saw some photos from the game and those uniforms are ridiculous. I can't imagine that enough people buy them to make it worth killing the tradition of players wearing their own uniforms.
