  1. Despite that Keith Hernandez episode (overrated, by the way) Seinfeld became much more of a Yankee show when George started working for Steinbrenner. I know Jerry was probably mocking the Yankees owner, but I doubt that many of the Bronx fans picked up on that. All that Yankee stuff eventually helped make the show unwatchable for me.
  2. No, seriously, I have no idea who George is. (As I've said many times before, music isn't my thing.)
  3. Bought a blue Mets cap for my son the other day, and it had the blue button on top.
  4. I think Gary, Keith, and Ron are a great team for Mets fans. I don't expect fans of other teams to enjoy them nearly as much. I'm sure they come across as buffoons, just as many of the other teams' broadcast teams look like buffoons to us. (Some, though, really ARE buffoons.)
  5. George Thorogood? Never heard of him.
  6. I had such high hopes for that 1982 season.
  7. I voted Tim Robbins. He seems to know his stuff.
  8. All three games from this past weekend's series against the Reds at Citi Field will close on Friday morning. This will be the last tally before I go away for a couple of weeks. Please keep voting and I'll get us caught up when I return in early August. (I may do some posting and voting while I'm away, since we recently got a cheap laptop that we'll be traveling with.) 9. They might as well cancel the All-Star game and give the AL team permanent home field advantage in the World Series.
  10. All three of the sub-.300 OBP (min. 600 PA) players played for George Bamberger. The lowest number was posted by Hubie Brooks, with a .284 in 1983. Hubie broke a record set a year earlier, when Dave Kingman had a .285. The third player is George Foster, with .289 in 1983.
  11. Hey, wait! I thought I was in the Met-Loving Big Shot thread!
  12. For Fman, it's all about the wank. He's perpetually 14 years old. Anyway, it seems that Ray Romano may not be not one of us after all. In a Q&A piece in the Daily News a week or so ago, he said he grew up as a Yankee fan in a Yankee household, even though he lived in Queens. Perhaps he made the switch to the Mets at some point, but you wouldn't know it from that article.
  13. I wouldn't necessarily balk at including Fernando Martinez.
  14. Buster Posey?
  15. I voted 39, and think I was being optimistic.

  21. Sif was Thor's Asgardian girlfriend, and, for a while, Jane Foster's rival. Jane eventually faded away, and Sif has more staying power. As a warrior, she was more suited to Thor than Jane, who was rather lacking in spunk. (I bet she'll be portrayed in the movie as a stronger character.)
  22. Mayhap she'll portray the fair Lady Sif?
  23. Thanks for trying, but it's just as well. The credit for the uniform number info should rightly go to MBTN.
