Latest news is that Fox is planning to "reboot" the Fantastic Four series. Apparently they hold the rights to the characters "in perpetuity" as long as they keep making films. So their options are: 1. Lose the characters 2. Make a third movie in the current series, which has had mediocre (at best) quality and less than mediocre reception. 3. Reboot, as was done with the Hulk. New cast, new interpretation, new... whatever. I think this is good news. I'm still hoping to see my favorite characters get the treatment they deserve. I was afraid that the two recent movies doomed my hopes for at least a generation. Now... maybe not.

Could be. I think I liked Brett because I was counting on his Royals to beat the Yankees in the ALCS just about every October from 1976 to 1981.

    Hietpas is the only guy on the list with an October debut. Okay, trivia time... There have been 34 Mets who debuted on or after September 1, and never again played for the Mets in any subsequent seasons. The challenge: Name them! The hints are below, the year and date of their debut. (Not all of these guys are "call-ups." There are a few who were late-season acquisitions from other teams.) 1962 9/10/1962 1963 9/4/1963 1967 9/3/1967 1967 9/7/1967 1969 9/19/1969 1970 9/1/1970 1970 9/20/1970 1971 9/14/1971 1971 9/15/1971 1973 9/15/1973 1974 9/12/1974 1974 9/13/1974 1974 9/16/1974 1976 9/4/1976 1977 9/29/1977 1984 9/1/1984 1987 9/18/1987 1989 9/7/1989 1989 9/16/1989 1991 9/4/1991 1992 9/18/1992 1993 9/29/1993 1996 9/14/1996 1996 9/15/1996 1997 9/3/1997 1998 9/5/1998 1998 9/8/1998 2003 9/12/2003 2003 9/14/2003 2004 9/4/2004 2004 10/3/2004 2005 9/2/2005 2007 9/5/2007 2008 9/5/2008

So what did we learn from that? Francoeur: Big part of 2010 plans. Top priority: Catcher. Lennon's hunch: B. Molina. Wilpons: Don't want another disaster season. Big plan for offseason: Count on existing players returning to health. Delgado return: Maybe, but probably not. Schneider, Putz, Green: Gone. Next year's rotation: Santana, Pelfrey, Perez, Maine, Niese. Prince Fielder: A lot of talk, but he won't be a Met. (Before reading this session, the thought never even crossed my mind.) Nothing really earth-shaking, but kinda interesting.
