  1. When he makes the big leagues, I hope his fan club wears these wigs to games:
  2. I think the Mets should trade for both Lee and Oswalt, and then sign and quickly promote Matt Harvey. Then three fifths of their rotation would be Lee-Harvey-Oswalt.
  3. Me, I'm more of a Marvel guy...
  4. When Dickey bowls, the ball doesn't roll down the lane, it slides down the lane.
  5. Voting for all three games played in the Bronx this past weekend will close on Wednesday morning. Please try to get any outstanding votes in today. Schaefer POTG 6/18/10 - Mets 4, MFYs 0 Schaefer POTG 6/19/2010 - MFY 5 NYM 3 Schaefer POTG 6/20/10 - MFYs 4, Mets 0

  7. I'm not sure that's it. It's not trying to be a list of "best movies" but a list of "movies you should see." I think Titanic was included because of its place in movie history as a mega-blockbuster.
  8. I think in that case, they charge you an "inconvenience fee" of $5 to compensate them for the time you spent standing on their box office line.
  9. I agree that the fees appear arbitrary For example, why should I pay a fee to print tickets with my own ink and on my own paper when this method actually saves the team money, because they don't have to mail me anything. The answer, of course, is that this method actually is more convenient for me, and if I'm willing to pay $2.50 for that convenience, the teams are certainly willing to collect it. What the market will bear, and all that... But you do get a chance to see the total cost before you actually commit to the purchase. If you select your seats, and find out that they'll cost $40 more than you wanted to spend, you can always bail. I can see that some fans may be irked by this process, but I doubt that many get fooled into spending more than they can afford, and those that do were simply not paying enough attention. There are similar proposals for airline tickets, where it makes a bit more sense. You do see the taxes and airport fees and stuff before you purchase, but you can still be surprised later on by baggage fees when you arrive at the airport.
  10. Perhaps, like John Rocker, they enjoy kissing their sister.

  12. Mets: 9 and 3 against the AL. That's all you have to worry about.
  13. Willets Point wrote: I'm thinking this may be a good first movie theater experience for our little one. Like metirish, I'll wait a few weeks and look for a matinee. SPOILER ALERT I have to say, there is a very harrowing scene, where (spoiler alert) the toys are about to be incinerated and they resign themselves to their impending deaths. You'll have to judge (as best you can) how much your child might be upset by something like that.

  20. So really, it's Howie or Wayne who's pissing you off, right? A few starts ago, when it looked like Takahashi may have been starting to falter, it made sense to at least think about having Maine bump him from the rotation. But he's righted himself, and he no more deserves to be bumped from the rotation than Dickey or Niese or Santana. The way I see it, Maine just has to start out in the pen. Then, if Takahashi or Dickey turn into pumpkins, (I mean that figuratively, by the way) you can consider Maine taking their place. I seem to recall Gary Cohen last night being critical of Jerry (and other managers) "managing to the save." He was arguing that Frankie should have started the ninth, even though it wasn't a save situation. Instead, Jerry waited for Valdes to make it dicey before bringing in Frankie.
