bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 It's due any day but this could be it. Then again, maybe it's a dummy schedule. Either way, it's more fun than looking at the standings:[tweet:2ghhz24s] [/tweet:2ghhz24s]
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 "HEY," said the 2017 schedule, "I'VE STILL GOT GAMES! AND SEATS! GOOD SEATS! PLENTY! AVAILABLE!"First thing that jumps out at me on what appears to be the magnetic schedule they will give away on the final Sunday (which is not Closing Day in the Home or actual sense) is the Mets are in Canada on the Fourth of July next year. Why the Mets hate America, other than they lose a lot here, I do not know.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Two two-game midweek Jays series, both bookended by off-days. Expecting crossing the border to be more difficult next year, I guess.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 7 of the final 20 games at home against the Marlins.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 No September series vs Reds for first time since 2012. That's been weird for five years running.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Author Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) Open and close the road schedule @WSH. Late trip to BOS, too. Edited September 7, 2017 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 First thing that jumps out at me is the first two Friday nights are empty. That's great if you're Orthodox, but ... .

That's a weird by-product of a Thursday Opening Day and then opening the WSH home season the following Thursday (please do not let rings be part of that day).

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Wait... WHAT? We have to do this again in 2018???
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Lots of pretty good roadtrips there:1. May 12-13 in Philly.2. Memorial Day: Milwaukee/Chicago3. Labor Day: San Francisco!4. Third Weekend in September: Washington to watch the Mets clinch!

The stadium is nice and the fans are congenial and knowledgeable. Plus they have sausage races.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 extra 4 off days built in, per CBA.makes things a little weirder than usual.NL East makes for a few potential road trips even with the young-uns. Though already sorta planning to be in Buffalo in May and Houston/Beaumont in fall so who knows if I have the time. Toronto? Boston? July 4th week is an awkward one to get away perhaps. The Mets play in Colorado 22nd of June and then don't leave the tiem zone again until the end of August. Included within that is a three week stretch at 'home'.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 Yup, that is the accurate schedule for 2018.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Two regular season games in March, I see.I have a feeling that Citi Field might be awfully cold on March 29.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Let's see if they're brainless enough to schedule that first Saturday game at night.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Frayed Knot wrote:Let's see if they're brainless enough to schedule that first Saturday game at night.I'm sure they will. TV drives everything.AVG temp increases by about 3 degrees a week through March/April. So making the season start 2 days earlier is worth about a degree. imperceptible. Maybe a miniscule increase in snow possibility too? And in at least half the cities the temperatures are warmer than that anyway.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 They do a handful of 4 PM Saturday starts in the course of the season. This would be a good time to do one of them.1 PM would be better, but let's not go crazy here with taking fan comfort into account.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I honestly can't get pumped at all about the Mets in 2018
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I think 2018 can be great. They have a good base of players, financial flexibility, and a smart team in place. If they are funded, the Mets can snap right back into contention. Gotta fire Barwis though.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 metirish wrote:I honestly can't get pumped at all about the Mets in 2018Me neither, but I'll get there by March 29, I'm sure. Especially if the Mets have a productive winter. (I certainly HOPE they have a productive winter.)

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Oakland A's are also home Labor Day weekend 2018. Anyone looking to visit stadiums can watch the Mets visit SF, then see Oakland later that same weekend.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I'm not seeing a big family road trip in '18 (we typically travel in July or August), unless we Make America Great by spending July 4 in Canada. Skydome is a dull stadium that also plays dull (few extra base hits, predictable turf) but Toronto is a great city in many other respects.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Rogers Centre does kind of suck. It's like a giant basketball arena with a baseball field in the middle instead. But yeah, Toronto is nice.Tentatively planning that SF trip over Labor Day, though, and weekend trips to see Lefty Jr in April and September in DC. Maybe not September if they're 30 games out, however.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 oh man, so close. I may/probably will be in Buffalo on 5/13. The Mets play the Blue Jays 5/15 but at home. boo.
