Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Grandyman and cash for a PTBNL or cash.Oh fuck it Mets. May as well keep him.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Rene Rivera with him, the twitterverse says. For 3 Ps TBNL. I'm a big fan of Rivera as a backup catcher. Would be happy to see the Mets bring him back in 2018.OE- don't believe everything the twitterverse says. But there's still buzz about Rivera being moved as well as Grandy.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Curtis will go down as one of my all-time favorites.I'll never forget the leadoff homer in Game 5. And so much more. Just a great person.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Has there been any other player who ended his Met career with a grand slam?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Always a first-rate guy. He can't complain about where he ended up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 It's amazing how a market barely exists for all the excess we were holding at the deadline.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 There were a number of factors. The Dodgers and the Astros reduced the number of buyers, for one thing. A number of teams (the Yankees especially) also made it clear that they wouldn't give up value for two-month rentals. And nobody was more adversely affected by it than the Mets, whose luck on the season was already pretty crummy.

Then I think it will cost each of the acquiring teams 4 million or so for the rental. I guess thats at least 20 million back to help make up for the money the Mets will lose this year. But yeah, I was hoping for better.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Grandy wasted no time getting to his new gig, serving as the DH for the Dodgers in his old haunts of Detroit where he's 0-4He did wind up at 2nd when his infield pop fell untouched (scored an error) due to wind or sun or incompetence (tough to tell). It came w/2 outs and he scored to break a scoreless tie two hits later. Many ML'ers, including those a decade or more younger, wouldn't have reached 2nd on a play like that; Cespedes might not have reached 1st.Dodgers are, of course, winning.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Always liked Granderson and will have fond memories of his time as a Met. He played hard and seemed to be a strong veteran presence on the club. Never seemed to complain and was always smiling. He truly appeared to enjoy playing the game. He was a class act. Good luck to you and thanks for the memories.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 The PTBNL is Jacob Rhame, a AAA reliever with a 55/10 K/BB ratio in 48 IP but also 6 HRs and 4.31 ERA. His overall numbers aren't terrible for the PCL. He comes in on the 40 -- I guess he needed to clear waivers first -- so he'll get an audition in September if not sooner.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 He looks like drinks cruelty-free local craft beers, doesn't he? Reserve a loft for him in Billyburg.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Yabbut, dude is probably packing some meeeeean home-kombucha-fermentation tips in his figurative Herschel backpack. Has anyone been able to track down his girlfriend's animal-babies-dressed-like-dictators Tumblr yet?
