TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Looks like the pic originates from Creamer Logo's message board back in May of 2012 which says:Sportslogos.net poster wrote:It was intended to be used at some point in the 80's. To me, the most interesting aspect of it (besides it being powder blue, because everyone wore powder blue back then) is that it has a different interlocking NY. And overall, it actually doesn't look half bad. I wonder why the ultimately ended up scrapping it?

That presenter has an historically interesting collection of rare Mets unis, including the one shown. I attended that specific presentation which (and this was my favorite part) at the question/answer section at the end of the presentation, degenerated into a virtually totally unanimous shout-down of the Jackie Robinson rotunda.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 They didn't have time for the ugly screboards

I'd like to see a button down version with at least something around the collar. The NY.....meh, but I think I could live with it on the road uni.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 I dont particularly mind the color, but that NY is much too large and hideous, it looks like a knock-off t-shirt

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Kvetch, kvetch. If these had been around in the eighties, as (half-)intended, we would look back on them semi-fondly and wave them around like the folks down the Turnpike do with their powder-blue double-knits.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 I think maybe the Mets do need a new look, we've swung back to conservatism now for several years and I think we can all agree it's time to break to with that shit, and there's hardly any way to continue that now. Junk the pinstripes! Let's get some orange happening! LETS FUCK THINGS UP

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 let's go back to black, but not just any black, VANTA black.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 We could always go back to the black unis!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 I thought orange would be way kool back in the late 70's when I drew this. I was a fan of the new unis hitting the majors, like Oaklands green/yellow/white tops. And yes, laugh if you must, that supposed to be me making the catch..But nothing, NOTHING!!!!!, should ever put the pinstripes up on a shelf. NOTHING!!!!!I am surprised at you JCL
