Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 We're certainly not giving JoseJose enough credit for whatever he's doing between ABs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Be a good idea to beat up on whoever comes in to try and pitch the 7th & 8th because, among other attributes, the Dodgers have maybe the best closer in the bigs.Jansen: 0.91 ERA; 0.57 WHiP; Batters Faced = 107 - Ks = 50; Earned Runs allowed = 3

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Oh, fudd.Fucking rabbitball gives and the rabbitball takes away.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Surprised we're not bringing in The Blev to face Utley.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 0-2 fastball. Fat part of plate.[sarcastic clapping]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Dodger outfield playing way deep. Helped us out on Céspedes' doink, but hurts us on Wilmer's deep drive.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 OK, Kershaw for dinner. Jannsen for dessert.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Janssen stays in reserve as Nimmo leads off with a hit-hit-hit!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 And his mates follow with an out-out-out.And there's the Randy Newman.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Well, they punched back against the best. That's something. They'll beat 'em in the sequel.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I heard that, but I didn't make out what it was. Keith and Gary came on talking about the Nats and Roark in non-air voices and then the mics went dead after a few lines and I couldn't understand why.

And zero walks.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 The T.J. Rivera folk hero status is a bit premature. Not only did he strike out swinging all night, but he came up in the ninth with the tying run two batters behind him in the form of Jay Bruce. By definition, you should be taking there. Even beyond that, Hatcher had walked two with two outs the previous inning and just struck out Conforto with what would have been ball four if Conforto hadn't chased. He was 40 pitches into his night, and just getting Jansen into the game would have been a meaningful achievement, as it would have compromised his availability the rest of the series. So Rivera lined out on the first pitch. He made good contact (the only contact he made all night) and probably feels pretty OK about it, but it was ass-backwards.As for Keith, I'm working with a Jerry Lewis screwball theory that the same sap who threw the switch on his mic early was the guy who messed up in the Mr. Met costume, and is just being cycled from job to job and screwing everything up as he goes."This is your FINAL final chance! You hear me, Crumley!"

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 McEwing's lone HR off of the Big Unit was the 10th of his career 25
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 So, Wheeler. Has he hit a wall? 15 runs in 3 2/3 innings is, you know, not sustainable.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 One way to look at it is that the fewer innings Wheeler pitches per start the deeper he'll go into the season before he hits his innings limit. At his recent pace, he may make it all the way to late September!

The whole 'Johnson Killer' rep was a classic example of a first impression based on a small sample size lasting far beyond its sell-by date as it was based entirely on a five AB stretch over two games in 2000 where he went: Double, Ground-Out, Double, HR, Double. The problem is, other than those two games he had 5 singles and a double in 38 trips. In total he wound up a more than respectable .250 career vs Unit, but it was essentially two games whence this whole rep stems.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 That's what I meant by "or not". Thanks for the supporting data.Later
