It doesn't seem at all likely that they'll do that, but there's that old axiom about how you're never as bad as you look while you're losing. I expect that there are better days ahead this season, but I also doubt that the wins to come will be enough to propel them into the post-season.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Cast your vote! It's a total coincidence that this graphic's turn came up for a game where the Mets lost to the Diamondbacks. Honest!

I know it's reactionary to write off a team in May, but sheesh. 5 games under, 8 games back. Everyone and their mother injured. How do you come back from this? And the farm system is basically tapped other than Rosario and Smith.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I'm not sure. Somebody comes of the DL. Somebody gets called up and totally changes the complexion of the lineup. A reliever learns a new pitch, bumps himself up in the rankings and everybody else down a notch. The coaching staff gets shaken up.I don't know that a turnaround is going to happen, or how it'll happen if it does, but they do happen, and I'm sure rooting for one now.I do know that I feel like we can't afford to wait on Granderson.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 Fire the bullpen. Replace with cyborgs in Mets unis. Glad I went to bed in the 4th.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Optimistic take is that Smokie finds his shit again in Vegas. I think I saw somewhere he was starting there.I used 2008 in the comparison because that was the year where the bullpen really struggled, we were short bodies, and Jerry's use of it seemed to spread a disease of unCAHNfidence. It was the time of Luis Ayala. It was the time of Brandon Knight. Of Toe Knee Arm Ass Junior.
