Anyone listening to the radio: I really want to see that Brockmyer TV show but I could not find the channel. I believe its IFC or ICF, but in any case, I went thru the entire guide and could not find it. Does anyone have that channel and can you tell me the channel # is in your cable package (might be different here, but probably close if it is).

So, the Marlins won't run on René Rivera the rest of the season, right?

I mean, Suzuki probably will, but other than him.

Nice that, for once, an 8 PM game ended before I got too sleepy.

I do hat those announcers, though. So much wasted time and words and breath.

Living and dying by the HR, as usual, and getting enough runs that way to stay ahead of the opponent. Not a good long term strategy. Need to be able to manufacture runs, and for that, we need some of these other guys to hit more. Looking at you, Mrs. Walker and Reyes.

Thinking Terry Collins should ban this practice

Say what you will about Buck and McCarver, but you knew it wasn't the first baseball game they've seen since their last assignment.

As I've said before, the network is the bigger problem than the announcers themselves. ESPN doesn't think you tune in to watch a ballgame, they think you tune in to watch how they present it.
The game, in their mind, is secondary to whatever pre-planned gimmicks and promos they've got up their sleeves. Everything that's on ESPN is about what else is on ESPN.

And this is exactly it. I don't care about what these guys think about non-game things or the stupidly contrived things they do. If I heard 'win-percentage' one more time, I was going to put my foot through the screen. I'm there to watch a baseball game. The Mr. Met Twitter war stuff was just embarrassing. Mr Met had the courtesy to at least shut up as the action in the inning was actually heating up.

God, they're so stupid. I guess somebody did a focus group that told them that this is what people want to see. Have to figure out a workaround for the next ESPN broadcast because I can't go through that again. I'll probably just listen to Howie and Josh, old-school.

Braden was interviewing him.

Mr. Mets does not speak Dallas.

I was kind of hoping that Mr. Met would just start shouting things like the mime in Singles.

See that's just it, it's not a baseball game to them it's a TV show.
As far as showing what baseball fans want to see, I doubt that even entered their minds. Besides, I'm not sure ESPN knows any baseball fans.

The sad part is that Karl Ravech (not their usual p-b-p guy but filling that role last night) is as smart and knowledgeable about baseball as anyone, and Eduardo Perez has been in ML clubhouses since he was three years old. Left alone they'd probably do a solid job, but that's not what they're sent out there to do.

I don't mind the ESPN A-team (Shulman, Mendoza, Aaron F. Boone) so much. But we happened to be making our midgame stroll during the Mr. Met business, and hell, that looked forced even on muted screens 20 feet away.

Nice, convivial, rowdy-with-rough-edges-sanded-off vibe at the game early on, then quieter as the hour grew later, the wind whipped up, and the giveaway rally towels became thermal ascots and safety-color-balaclavas. The home runs were just as ooh-aahworthy in person. We made it through 7 before heading to the car and bedtime.
