I think so too. Kristie Ackert made the argument today that Wheeler has to pitch as a starter because he wouldn't be able to handle the ups and downs of being a bullpen pitcher. If she's right about that, then should he get those starts at Vegas, while Gsellman pitches for the Mets? Or are Wheeler innings going to be regarded as so precious that they have to be pitched in the big leagues?

News POURING out on the injury front, although that may just be a case of the writers having had an off day.

Matz: Throwing tomorry for the fist time since spring training.

Lugo: Throwing tomorry for the fist time since spring training.

Wright: Resuming béisbol activities this week.

It could be nuttin' but Matt Reynolds was pulled from the Vegas-Fresno matchup mid-game.

They didn't play Amed Rosario two nights ago, but then he played again last night. I had call-up ideas.
I think the Reynolds move was because he was playing left field in a scoreless game (they later lost 1-0) and the mgr wanted a more experienced outfielder in there for defense.

I read some column touting Rosario as having "nothing left to prove" at AAA and so should be called up immediately, something which is wildly overreacting IMO
Not only is Reyes going to get at least 100 ABs (currently 53) but Rosario has all of 51 AAA ABs (with barely 300 in total above the A-ball level) and, though hitting .353, his hits are all singles and he's walked just twice.
No, I think he has a lot left to prove yet and is very unlikely to be the first move made even if Reyes is cut/benched/demoted/whatever.

Flores to the DL
Cabrera banged up, not playing (he looked very slow this whole series especially on D)
TJ Rivera called up, playing 3B
Bruce at 1B
Reyes at SS
Cespedes not playing
dArnaud not playing

oh Doodooo also to the DL, Gilmartin back up

It seems that every time a regular for whom Wilmer Flores can take over gets hurt...so does Wilmer Flores.

He needs to time his own injuries better. Or get hurt less frequently.

I mean, it's antibiotics for a week or so, no? Or, y'know, it's drug-resistant, life-threatening good times.

I noticed that,too.
Wilmer can't catch a Wally Pipp replacement break.

Madison Bumgarner banged up in a dirt bike accident. Will miss two months.

You would have thought they would have a Jeff Kent (Don't be an idiot) clause in the contracts of their star players.

Staph is a complete disruption of the joint with pain. The joint gets tapped and you hope bios fix it.

Some good news. Multiple reports have Lucas Duda coming off the DL when he is eligible (I think Sunday).

That is some OBP and SLG coming back. I guess you move Bruce back to RF and then move Conforto to CF when that happens. I guess Granderson is the odd man out.

Yes I think the difficult but sad reality is that Brucie and Grandy will have to fight for 1 position between them most nights.

I think it might be a good idea to let Cespedes rest from time to time too. He's got fragile legs.

I'd be surprised if they'd bite at anybody as costly as Bruce or Granderson. Maybe if the Mets included Plawecki and took Francisco Cervelli or something. But then they'd have to include something else sweet. Like, really sweet.

So, not DL-ing Céspedes is apparently ... a decision that hasn't panned out.

As far as kids to bring up, you've got
[list:az59ojuw][*:az59ojuw]Nimmo, who would be playing his second rehab game for St. Lucie today.[/*:m:az59ojuw]
[*:az59ojuw]Taijeron, hitting .304 / .388 / .522 // .909 for Las Vegas.[/*:m:az59ojuw]
[*:az59ojuw]Smith, hitting .342 / .388 // .506 // .895 for Las Vegas, who could come up and play first, and push Bruce back to the outfield.[/*:m:az59ojuw][/list:u:az59ojuw]
