Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Landslide, Powerball, Yo! Some nice action shots here.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I love the Powerball cover - unusually creative!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 I wonder how many people thought that those were the actual lottery numbers. I know it's not possible, because the number 20 couldn't be drawn twice, but I expect that anyone who would think that those were real numbers would be less likely to notice that.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Good week in tabloid covers and in Mets. Went with Neil Diamond, Powerball and Pop Star.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I like literally every cover. The April Mets were awesome. I remember that three-run PH homerun by Cespedes. One of the great moments of the season. A great week of covers if you are Cespedes's agent. Walker's too.I wonder if maybe BG has been taking some kickbacks from agents on the timing of all this. I mean, this week of covers comes out just as the QO is on the table? I wasn't born yesterday pal.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 You're on to me! I am getting kickbacks, but it's nothing all that lucrative. Just some stale A.M. Crunchwraps left over from last year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Yeah, this is much better than yesterday's batch.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 Yesterday's thread, Round 1.1.7, is currently tied, as is 1.1.4 from a few days ago. Anyone who hasn't voted yet in either of these threads is invited to do so. I'll probably bump the 1.1.4 thread tomorrow. The voting for 1.1.4 ends on Sunday morning.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I really like Landslide, but I had to drop a Yo cover to fit in Sky Walker. I know it's corny, especially the subheading, but I like it.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Landslide, Daddy, Sky -- easily could have voted for a baker's half-dozen of these...
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I know that the six HR game came against the Phillies, but man, that lineup could mash when healthy. Conforto (the April version who could hit), Cespedes, Walker, Granderson and Duda. Part of me wants to bring back everyone and just try it again. If Conforto could find himself, and Cabrera can sustain his second half...It's too bad that there is no room to fit in Jay Bruce. Maybe we could teach him to catch.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 That pinch-hit three-run homer by Cespedes was pretty awesome. I remember he was listed as "unavailable" for that game. He stepped in, saw only one pitch, and hit a three-run homer. He was in the game for barely a moment. It was enough to make him the Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for April.

Reminiscent of the ten-run inning vs Atlanta from 2000 in that leaving seemed like a great idea but my friend and I didn't leave...and boy was that the right call.
