Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I'd hate to have to argue Zack Wheeler's arbitration case.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Can we just sign Kelly Johnson this winter so we don't have to trade for him again?
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Can Bruce demand a release? He's a 5-year vet in the middle of a multiyear contract.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 Not that I know of.There is a clause that allows players dealt in the middle of a multi-year FA deal to demand a trade elsewhere but Bruce's deal w/Cincy wasn't a FA deal so I don't believe he qualifies. There's always the chance he may Get traded this winter, but it won't be because he forced it.Benjamin Grimm wrote:I'd hate to have to argue Zack Wheeler's arbitration case.Got to be a little weird to argue either side of that case. There can't be too many comparables to a player with 3-1/2 years of ML service but still less than 50 appearances and all of them more than 2 years in the rear view mirror.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Reyes's 2018 option is for $4 million, but Colorado pays all but $500 k

His Mets deal just gets subtracted from his original Marlins contract which Colorado and (mostly) Toronto are on the hook for.Whatever he agreed to w/the Mets for 2017 is probably fairly small and is virtually a certainty to get picked up.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 They essentially get him for the minimum in 2017. It's the no-brainer of no-brainers.

But I'd think he'll be back.
