And remember that this is a 7 PM EDT start tonight, a game which may or may not be shown over MLBN depending on your area.

Seth Lugo (and, No, we're NOT shitting you!!) vs Adam Wainwright (9-7; 4.71; 1.36)

Wainwright is in the midst of the worst statistical year of his career which comes on the heels of the now 34 y/o missing most of 2015 with injuries.
Mainly he got off to a terrible start, then seemed to find himself with a good month of July but has been shaky at best during four starts in August including giving up 6 runs to the Braves over 6, then coughing up 7 to the Cubs in just 2 innings in his following start.

Needless to say this is an important game.

You know, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Youve got to be blind as a bat to mistake bad for good. In fact, if god could talk, hed cry to heaven and say the future aint what it used to be. Me? I look at the box scores and just read em and weep. I feel like were jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. But its all coming back to me now and, for crying out loud, Im all revved up with no place to go. Hell, it just wont quit. But you dont have to cry over me. Im still alive. And why would i give up on my team? I'd do anything for love, but i won't do that.

And like a winner at the gates of fandom
I'll keep tuning in back to you

Meatloaf is an absolute gold mine when it comes to lyrics.

And maybe you can cry all night
But that'll never change the way I feel
The snow is really piling up outside
I wish you wouldn't make me leave here

So he tells the girl he doesn't love her. Then tells her that her incessant whining isn't going to change anything. Then he plops down on her couch to watch TV and says "Wait, you want me to leave? Look at the fucking snow!"

Bruce has to be in there, regardless of his cramps and slump. And Flores has no business playing against a righty. K. Johnson booted a grounder yesterday so he hits the bench but he should be in there. And Rivera (w/o Noah pitching) against a righty? This is a must win and Terry has no fucking clue what to do.

Fucking Molina is playing for the 3d day in a row but d'Arnaud can't?

Loney doesn't strike me as a clean up hitter.

Bruce was hoping to play tonight. I'm waiting for this cramp to turn into a strained calf.

I tell you, Mets, you traded for the wrong Red. Votto was the guy to get, and he was talking out of school more every day, embarrassing the team and lowering his price.

Doubt he was on the table, didn't the talking start after Bruce left?
Doesn't matter, what's done is done.

Bruce has been garbage and I can't imagine playing hurt is going to help him be better. Plus De Aza's been pretty good after that horrible start.

But yeah, no reason d'Arnaud shouldn't be playing today. And Kelly Johnson has been pretty good, he should probably be in there more.

Rivera is Lugo's personal catcher.

Well, most of what I write doesn't matter, and the rest is probably wrong, but the Reds were negotiating with the Blue Jays this offseason before pulling out.

Doesn't his contract run as long as Bobby Bonilla's? Will Jeff Wilpon's kids be willing to pay?

Not at all what I meant, didn't mean you-wise whatsoever. I was referring to
what was available for Dilson or whatever at the time of the Bruce trade. Don't
recall the Reds/Jays thing, but what I can't recall really doesn't matter!

Remembering how when I was 17 or 18 when this song played and thinking the same thing

Part of the reason he should be available is a contract that takes you to the end of his career.

In fairness, Terry has a better idea of how bad Bruce's leg is than we do. d'Arnaud got a leg up on Crappiest At-Bat of the Year last night with that first-pitch double play in the seventh. I'd sit his ass down tonight, too. And with a pitcher making his second (third? I dunno) major league start, I'd rather have Rivera behind the plate even if d'Arnaud were hitting well.

Can't say I disagree about Johnson over Flores at 2B, though.

Molina's team is in a playoff race.

It will go quickly, and we will either be happy or sad.

"So when they turned up dead, I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the
fandom we've chosen; I didn't ask who made the batting order, because
it had nothing to do with fandom!"
