Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 We should find room to play this Cespedes guy a little more.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Ump calling low strikes. Curtis is all "Eh, I like low strikes."
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Flores makes a great diving stop and they give him an error. wtf?Reed closes the 8th! Niiiiiice.

Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Conforto is a bad ass.Does he qualify as a rookie this year, or did he play too much last season. I know Matz qualifies. Edited April 26, 2016 by Guest

Crushed a drive to center but took a bad spill rounding first and is hurt. Phils lead Nats by a run in the 7th, 4-3.Phillies are trying REALLY hard to lose that game but are managing to win (so far) regardless. 9 hits + 4 walks (mostly thx to Scherzer) but several dumb base-running plays and other acts of dumbth have them hanging on by their tingerfips (4-3 in the 8th).

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Oh maaaaaan, Conforto is such a pure hitter. This guy is going to be so much fun to watch!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 With the umps we have these days I wouldn't just walk away like that Wilmer.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 So that's a game and a half picked up on the Nats since last night: the 3-1/2 game deficit at the end of Sunday and that ridiculous win by the Nats is now down to 2
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Even with injuries the Mets are EN FUEGO!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 THouGhTs On tHe GaME!!!111. I'll tellya one thing: It wasn't en fuego up in the Promenade. Cold and wet. Also, cold and wet.2. Saw Gfafif on the concourse (even though saw me first) and also ran into a guy I used to know in elementary school.3. Fuku Chicken sandwich was fukuing good! Only 1 beer as my hands were too cold to even hold one after dark.4. I guess I was shocked and not shocked with the Cespedes HR. For one thing the on-deck circle -- and scoreboard (is that legal?) showed Doodoo as the PH. Couldn't tell whether the ball cleared the line at first so there was a moment where nobody knew. The scoreboard "home run" graphics began, that's how everyone found out.5. The Reds are in that baseball hell where they don't trust anyone in the bullpen and so rode that great lefty's outing 1 pitch too long. 6. Wright, who everyone in the building was convinced would strike out, then proved no matter who they went to Cincy was fucked.7. Worst fear was Hamilton leading off the 9th. Was convinced if he got on it would be another 2 hours out there.8. Wilmer made 2 nice plays at 1st and didn't finish either. Alsdo treated to nice D by Walker and Hamilton, though his leap almost seemed gratuitous.9. Plawecki swung the bat well. I think it was his drive Hammy caught.10. Passed the time with my brother doing commentary as Bernie Sanders. check out the series at Instagram WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM Create an account or log in to Instagram - Share what you're into with the people who get you.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 You know, games like this taste even better when they're allowed to marinate overnight.

The scoreboard "home run" graphics began, that's how everyone found out.Duda was assumed to be the PH because he was in the on-deck circle but, as he never approached the plate or was announced as such, Terry was able to pull the old switcheroo. It wasn't apparent to the booth guys either whether or not Duda had been announced, but the fact that he later came in on defense was the final answer.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 It also wasn't apparent to them whether Terry made a last minute re-consideration or just sent Doo-wocka-Doo up there as a decoy. I lean toward the latter. He outfoxed the less experienced manager. Once Price went to the mound, and left his lefty in there (presumably with the thought that Lucas was the next batter), Terry was able to swoop Doo out of there before he was announced. At that point the Reds were unable to make a change. Foxy Terry.John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote:8. Wilmer made 2 nice plays at 1st and didn't finish either. His best play was in the third, coming in on the safety squeeze and somehow freezing Billy Hamilton at third. How can the Reds have their signals so crossed that a guy bunts with Billy Hamilton on third, gets it down, and he doesn't break in time? The guy just want from first to third on a single to left. If I remember correctly, he did standing!Hamilton may be a comet, but the Reds looked pretty lost on the bases most of the night.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 This was the most thrilling game for me so far in this early season. It genuinely felt like some of the magical games from late 2015.While the Mets are the hottest team in baseball right now, I'm still hoping this win will propel them to further greatness. It was great to see the dugout reacting the way they did after the Cespedes HR.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 And three cheers to Sandy Alderson for taking down the Great Wall of Flushing, and making that home run possible.
