Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Again with no one out!!!So what is the record for runners thrown out on the base paths in a season? We must be up to 7 or 8 already!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 We've got more guys dying at the plate tonight than Guy Fieri.Later
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Nice inning for Reed there, he looked sharp.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 So this is going well. Conforto answers the call, DeAza trying to get me to like him (maybe if you hit another by the end of the week, kid). A little home run binge. I like. We needed this bad.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 shitty night for Tuefel. I could tell both would get thrown out, and there was no reason to send either of them.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 De Aza flashing some giddy-up and leather!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 'twould very much suck to lose a game with 14 hits and half of them for XB
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 They're screwing this up. it's the coaches fault the manager is fucking up. and here comes Marlon Byrd as the tying run.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I'm still stuck on that outside pitch that d'Arnaud couldn't reach for. Amazin'.6-5 Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Cowgill on for Byrdie. U-Ribbie at the plate. All so surreal.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Wasn't worried.Well, except for the part where I was really, really worried.I'm headed to Cleveland in the morning!

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I know it's early, but if we lost this one it would have been sooooooooooo disheartening.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 - I had no argument with Teufel sending either runner; I thought it took very strong throws to catch them. Based on the big screen, multiangle replays, Walker was out at the plate.- My section was about 20% Mets fans. Indians fans are generally pretty cool. As long as you're pumping cash into Cleveland's economy, you're OK.- Ketchup won the hot dog race.- Nice ballpark. I hadn't been there in several years. They've got a little outdoor area off to the side that serves as an unofficial Indians HoF. Great food and beer options from local places. Bar with a fire pit upstairs. Scoreboard was big and informative, but they twice showed Chrstian Vasquez batting for the Mets.- D'Arnaud looks lost up there.- I couldn't figure out pulling Bastardo, either. Would have been nice to have Reed available with Familia gassed.- If you heard somebody yelling "Get the ball over the fucking plate" in the 9th, that was probably me.- Back for more today. Sitting a few sections away from Mets Guy in Michigan and will try to get over there and say hi.

Based on the big screen, multiangle replays, Walker was out at the plate. My biggest problem in each case was that there were no outs at the time. With one out I'd probably send Walker and with two I'd have sent both. But, even with our pop-gun offense of late, the odds of getting a runner in from 3rd w/0 outs is in the 85-90% range and neither send had anywhere near that degree of success in my view. I'd have labeled Walker maybe 50/50 at best (and thought it the wrong call even while he was temporarily safe); De Aza's odds I placed at considerably lower than that. Plus, as each play was developing, the little man in my head said to hold them. Not that the little guy's always right but, when virtually any play involving runner is underway, I almost always try to calculate what they should or shouldn't try and in both cases last night I was holding them at 3rd all along.
