Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 5, 2016 Author Posted February 5, 2016 Notice how Ray Knight, the one who was actually trained to box, wanted no part of Tyson.Tyson would see him strike an authentic boxing stance and the instincts would take over.
Guest cooby classic Guests Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 lol I thought of that too Edgy that 1882 picture is terrific!

Tyson visited the Mets at Shea that season, in part, to specifically meet Ray Knight (the visit was documented in various publicity shots depicting Tyson play-punching it out with Doc and Darryl, like the photo above). Tyson even presented Knight with a set of his boxing gloves as a gift, and signed them "From one slugger to another", alluding to Knight's fight with Eric Davis.

Guest cooby classic Guests Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Now in this picture, Ray is assuming the same defensive stance I would if Mike Tyson were anywhere near me....with a bat. He's looking away warning Nancy and the kids to stay back.
Guest El Segundo Escupidor Guests Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The matching belts are quite impressive. I think the NEW New York Mets (from 1962 to 1976) had a BYOB policy. The New New York Mets are the Blernsball team http://futurama.wikia.com/wiki/New_New_York_Mets

I'm a big Futurama fan and love that episode. Leela needs a baseball card.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I'm making a Leela blernsball card and of course, I'm getting carried away. Hank Aaron the 23rd should get a card, as well as Jackie Anderson. The Mets new owner was Abner Doubledeal, lolol. And I just realized I will need to design a New New York Mets team logo for the card. How kool is that?I didn't notice the business with the Braves uni back when. That's pretty classic.[fimg=400:25w5fd3w]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-lTxOz4IOdfE/VrgYU2jgg9I/AAAAAAAAlHs/8SRRR7hTsBw/s720-Ic42/Jackie_anderson.jpg[/fimg:25w5fd3w][fimg=400:25w5fd3w]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mzRdJIAZ40k/VrgYVKHTaFI/AAAAAAAAlHw/5sc6eDhcxHs/s800-Ic42/LbSsIO2.jpg[/fimg:25w5fd3w]

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 That's great work. I'm gonna want to use that Blernsball logo. I don't think one can be made much better than that one. PeterParkerPA created that. Very kool. The thing on Hanks chest under the Braves is a Trident. Poseidon, god of the sea, carried one. I believe the logic involved might stem from a different Futurama episode where we find that the fabled city of Atlanta sunk under the sea.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Looks like the 1986 threads are going to be the 2016 Sunday home standard.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I don't like it. Once in a while is ok. This is overkill.Let them create their own history.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Well, Sundays at home suggest approximately 7.5-8.0% of the time. Is that overkill?Seems to me like the day a novelty uniform rolls out generally anyhow.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Mets following the example of White Sox and Pirates who wear their beloved throwbacks every home Sunday (and Brewers, who kicked off the trend by wearing the early '80s look on Friday nights c. 2007).

dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 The problem I'm going to have with the racing stripe jersey will be the implementation on the 2016 style of jersey. From what I've read, this season, all jerseys will have a triangle-shaped mesh fabric leading to the belt line from under the armpit. this will mean no pinstripes or stripes on the sides. On Edit: Not triangle shaped, but a long strip down the side:http://www.uni-watch.com/2016/01/29/a-big-day-for-mlb-uniforms/These are the new Majestic Flex Base uniforms that will debut in spring training.
