Now they are selling limited sets. The ToppsNOW stuff must be doing well. Maybe everything will be limited down the line. This says BUNT. Does that mean its only a virtual set?

Cespedes is in the set but I'm not biting.

It's a physical version of the digital cards. But still -- pass.

Not as pathetic as this one:

You could say the same about deGroms one hitter.
But when a Mets on a card it gets a 5 out of 10 outta the gate.
When it's quite possibly one of the last Wright cards from
Topps and also a limited print the acquisition is a no brainer.

When I consider it worth it I let them get me. Hook, line, & sinker.
Id be better off not knowing, and I wouldn't go look, but now ToppsNOW ads follow me all over the internet on a daily basis.....like a stalker.

Nolan Ryan's 1972 Topps card was an air-brush job -- an Angel logo painted over a Mets cap and Mets home pinstripes still visible -- the jersey cropped just below the neckline to conceal the Mets word-mark . Ryan's card appeared in Topps 1st series and so long as Topps was commited to releasing Ryan's card in that first serties, there was no time to produce a Ryan card in a proper Angels uniform given the technology of the day insofar as the Ryan trade occurred in December of 1971.

Ryan's trade partner Jim Fregosi's card also appeared in that 1st series. But Fregosi appeared as an Angel rather than as an airbrushed Met.

Fregosi would also appear in that year's high card numbered Traded set as a Met. Perhaps Topps had determined which players would appear in the traded subset early on and so that's why Fregosi's base card was with his former team. This theory sounds correct because Ryan was not included in the traded set and before the 1972 season, Ryan was a mediocre pitcher, albeit with baseball's fastest fastball. So it made a lot of sense for Ryan to be excluded from that traded set, which for the most part, was made of stars and former stars.

This week, Topps released an image of what undoubtedly would've been used for Fregosi's airbrushed '72 base card had Topps decided not to include Fregosi in the traded set:

They did a ToppsNOW card for Colons 2 hits the other night. Again, a nice addition to Colon's 2016 ToppsNOW collection (whats he got now? 5 NOW cards?) but I won't bite.
I was gonna say even if I was rich I wouldn't entertain this $9.99 bidness anymore, but who am I kidding. It's because I'm not rich that I have a problem with it.

This is interesting.

A collector bought a ToppsNOW card because the card pictured by Topps contained an error (wrong first name of player). The guys specialty is error cards. Topps noticed the error early in the run and corrected it (316 error versions released), then mailed the customer the corrected version. He wanted the error version. They would not give it to him. He sued.

No Familia 44 ToppsNOW card. I'll cover that one :)

Bastages. It's an awesome card but I can't go for that, no can do, oh no.
And it's not called a "bat toss", it's called a "bat flip". I'm so not with it.

If they are gonna be doing Mets season highlight cards they are infringing on my beat! ;0

What the hell with the trademarked symbols interfering with the narrative? Ruins everything.

I totally agree with you. They do it all the time now on everything.
What? Are we gonna think it's not covered if there's no symbol next to it?
It's aesthetically unpleasing to look at. It ruins the composition/artistic flow created by the layout itself.
I HATE THAT THEY DO THAT!

This is some racket Topps has going. And if the money's there, Topps can keep the Mets leadoff HR theme going so long as Reyes and Grandy continue to leapfrog each other in leadoff HR's.

No rook symbol.
ToppsNOW is getting silly. I'll make my own with a rookie symbol, print up one and possess the rarest Lugo rookie on this planet.

The last ToppsNOW card I went for was the one with Thor/Seaver. I won't go for any more unless they put one out with me on it. Tommie Agee is also acceptable.

Lugos reg issue mfc rook:

I also had forgotten the inside color border. Need that or you can flip the cards!

This is awesome!

Technology-wise, we've come a long way to where Topps can produce a ready to sell action card based on yesterday's action from the days where Topps had to airbrush caps and helmets very crudely to accommodate trades that were made months before the card in question was sent to the presses.

We should do a mash of ToppsNOW cards with airbrushed caps. Like for the Bruce trade.

Pretty sweet card. Unless Batmags is tweeting as Topps, this ones real.

[fimg=300:1qj3q0g6]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CsVjf2EWYAATmyT.jpg[/fimg:1qj3q0g6]

Do I want this card? I'll leave it up to you guyz. You tell me.

No rookie symbol but this card could be attractive if I am starting a TJ collection, and I see no reason not to.

I never saw three lines of text. That's a new font for the "CALL UP" line.

Are there other ToppsNows with three lines of text?
