Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 So I’m minding my own business, and my wife of wives calls me over to check out some blog post titled “40 Cringeworthy Men’s Fashion Ads From the 70s."Now, I lived through the seventies, and I escaped them, fully aware of what had just happened. My friends and I would even go through boxes of our uncles’ and older cousins’ old leisureware to get a smoov look for Saturday night party time. We were dicks that way. But the point is… my eyes were open. But still, the pics lived up to their billing. I mean, cringe, I did. Of course I did. I mean… half-price onesies![fimg=450]http://i2.wp.com/pulptastic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/557e3a92c8e8e.jpg[/fimg]Woolen-knit tunics and ponchos to be worn as shirts.[fimg=400]http://i0.wp.com/pulptastic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/557e3d111880f.jpg[/fimg]And this strange ad, where you get the idea a mob enforcer came by the modeling agency, and they promised to shoot a spread with him if he didn’t break anybody’s thumbs. But they put the same outfit (unitard?) on another guy in the same ad, because who was going to buy it after seeing it on Billy the Bonecrusher?[fimg=400]http://i2.wp.com/pulptastic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/557e496e7cc4e.jpg[/fimg]That, and a lot far-more-dramatic looks for stepping out to swing when swinging was swinging. Ha, bloody, ha, right? But then, I get down to #35, and neither of us were quite braced for what was to come next…[fimg=400]http://i0.wp.com/pulptastic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/557e4c581ceb6.jpg[/fimg]Right?! I mean, in fairness, Seaver’s probably got the most defensible ensemble on the page, with the possible exception of the aliens from Planet Mod Squad (if you can pull that off) in shot #37, but still! Tom F’n’ Seaver! Modeling Grown-Up Garanimals! There’s a pop culture find for you!

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I look at that and think that four Tom Seavers would have made a hell of a starting rotation.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Sporting the big honking championship ring, too.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 So top Leisure Suit Seaver is like, "What's the deal with this guy?" who of course is Polyester Suit Seaver. And bottom Polyester Suit Seaver is trying to convince bottom Leisure Suit Seaver of something but bottom Leisure Suit Seaver seems unwilling or unable to comprehend it; like, "Hey, Tom, I slept with Nancy last night and she was awesome!"

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Seaver seems to be a big fan of the green seafoam look.
