Hopefully both procedures go well and down time is minimal.

Thanks, for my part.

Am I the only person who draws a small inference in the back of his head that Sandy Alderson has collapsed again each and every time this thread jumps to the top, and he has some sort of chronic collapsing condition?

Does Ricco have the authority to pull off a trade?
It must be more serious than reported for a GM not to delay the procedure until after the meetings.
I hope not, and wish him well.

Not sure if it's related to the fainting episode during the Terry press conference, but the NY Post is reporting that [u:14oux8d2]Sandy is about to undergo 8-to-12 weeks of chemotherapy for a "treatable" form of cancer[/u:14oux8d2] according to a club announcement this morning.
Alderson will continue in his duties as GM, though he will miss next week’s Winter Meetings. This comes on the heels of him skipping last month's GM meeting after briefly collapsing following a Citi Field press conference.

Concerned not only for SA obviously but that the Mets haven't bothered yet to specify who's in charge in the meantime. That's a typical Met thing.

“In the meantime, Sandy’s team and I will be coordinating closely with him and keeping him up to date on all baseball matters.”

That's Jeff speaking. Jeff!

Wowza. Get well Sandy. Not suprised about Jeff, though. He'll be making all the big decisions soon and inevitably. It's in his character and he can't help himself.

Hopefully it's as treatable as they say, and he'll be complication free.
8-12 weeks of chemo can be hell depending on what they're doing.

"Treatable." You can squeeze a lot into that word.

Yeah. Radiating a 68 year old man's body for 3 months is not as simple as lancing a boil.

stay strong Sandy!

Ugh, this is horrible news. Hopefully all goes according to plan. Get well, live long, and prosper Sandy.

Stay strong and get better soon, Sandy.
That's an order, Marine!

I'd prefer someone with a measurable I.Q run the ship until Sandy returns.

That they won't report the type of cancer and say in advance that they'll not be any updates as the treatment goes on certainly doesn't calm any nerves.

Everyone is entitled to their medical privacy, but I really don't see why
they can't be a little more forthcoming with some information.

Well, because the man is entitled to his medical privacy.

NYDN: Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Tuesday he had surgery "a week ago Wednesday" as part of his treatment for cancer, and that the procedure was "fantastically successful" and had been planned since December when Alderson and the Mets announced his diagnosis with the disease. "The surgery was pre-planned. It was part of an overall strategy that was devised by my doctors early in December. The surgery followed a very successful regime of chemotherapy. The doctors were able to do everything they had hoped to do, and were able to avoid everything they hoped to avoid."

Not just successful folks, but fantastically successful.

It's the best, amazing words, really.

Pretty sure Trump copied Alderson. Or don't you remember Sandy's mid-July statement to the press last year?

We're gonna have the best bench. The bench is going to be so full there won't be anyplace to sit. You'll be tired of how much depth we're gonna have, folks.

Next thing you knew, he gets Johnson and Uribe and, true to his word, as you can tell this year, the Mets got sick of how much depth they had.

Hats off to Sandy and his doctors. Continued success and full recovery!
