A fifth Mets pennant is within reach. In the spirit of the "Where Were YOU?" thread, any memories specific to where YOU were when the first four (or the only four, to date) were achieved?

October 6, 1969.
October 10, 1973.
October 15, 1986.
October 16, 2000.

10/16/2000

I was in my dorm room watching. My roommate and the guy across the hall wanted to play a prank on the neighbor by blasting music through the walls and were annoyed that I wanted the tv volume up to listen to the Mets celebrating the clinch.

I've been to every home NLCS game since now that I think about it.

October 16, 2000 - I was at this game! No specific memories though.
Gosh, will I remember who I am and where I live in the next five years?
These memory exercises are making me wish I kept better notes.

thanks to the internet/Google you'll easily be able to track and pull up the memories and your day to day routine from this years run.

Literally. Like, "Where was I during Scherzer's no-hitter against the Mets"

1969- I was too little to fully appreciate it. All I knew was that the Mets were winning when it was important, and I thought it would go on forever.
1973- Don't really remember watching, but I remember cleaning up on a bet with a Yankee fan in my neighborhood- a whole dollar.
1986- Game started while I was at work, but I sped home to get in front of my TV and caught the last 8 innings aided and abetted by various brewery products.
2000- I was there at Shea. Noisy, chilly, awesome.

2000 -- At a French restaurant around Soho. Had the opportunity to go to Shea but had to stay back at work. I was at Game 4 though, which was one of my favourite Shea memories.

2000: I was 13. We had just moved back into our house after we gutted it and renovated it. I remember putting up a poster of the victory celebration shortly afterwards. All my friends at school were Yankee fans, and they never let me forget what was to come.
1986: I wouldn't be born for about another 4 months.

86: watching at frat house. Guys were leaving for the dining hall and coming back to find us. I missed dinner that day.

00: Upper deck behind 3rd base. Bought a single seat and went by myself.

1986 - I was in a MSG ladies room, where they had a radio feed. Billy Joel delayed his concert because people weren't leaving their TVs or radios so it was a late arriving crowd. While we were waiting the crowd did the wave, and Billy had many shout-outs to the Mets during the show - it was really a great night!

I'm surprised at these reports of people going to concerts while the Mets are in the playoffs.

In my defense, the 3:00 game should have been over MUCH earlier than the 8:00 concert.

At home after school in '69. Second wild celebration on TV in two weeks. Seemed the norm to a six-year-old.

In a Lamston's (like a Woolworth's) in Manhatan in '73. Transistor radio reported last out. I stepped outside to take in the commotion, which there was just enough of.

In front of a television for four hours and forty-two minutes in '86, fielding steady stream of OHMIGOD phone calls.

At Shea in 2000, Mezzanine. Like something out of a dream.

Television again in 2015, synced to radio feed as best as could be. Quite happy with the outcome as was the case the previous four times.

There are now five, you know.

The only one I remember is 2000...I was at a sports bar, slightly buzzed, with a Cardinal fan friend.

Much like this last series against the Cubs, I don't remember that series being all that competitive and the Mets seemed to win pretty easily. All my friend could do was shake his head and admit the Mets were the better team.

We lost touch within the next year...so I was NOT with him for the 2006 NLCS.

October 6, 1969 - coming around the corner in a little green rowboat.
October 10, 1973 - didn't have a womb with a view.
October 15, 1986 - came home from school, flipped on the tv, and sat riveted in my seat (a rocking chair, iirc) for hours on end.
October 16, 2000 - went out with some friends for a drinks at a cocktail bar in Cambridge. Didn't pay too much attention to anyone because I was was looking through the door to the next room to watch the game on tv.

October 6, 1969 - 4 years old (almost 5), living in Stuyvesant Town in lower Manhattan. Unaware of the Mets. Very aware of Ring Dings & Santa Claus.

October 10, 1973 - 9 years old (almost 10), living on the upper west side, enamored with Willie Mays. No recollection of my specific whereabouts when pennant was clinched.

October 15, 1986 - 21 years old (almost 22), senior year at Syracuse U. Had just returned from a road trip to Philadelphia to watch the 3rd game of that series and see the Mets clinch there because there was 'no way' the Phillies were going to sweep them. It was a long drive back to school.

October 16, 2000 - 35 years old (almost 36), Shea Stadium, baby. I was there!

OE: re: '86, above story was division clincher, sorry. For the pennant I was in my basement apt. In Syracuse for the entire game. Roommates came and went all day, staying for an inning or two and I moved steadily around the apartment from chair to couch to ottoman all throughout. When they finally won I went outside to breathe actual air.

I went to all three of those games with my brothers and some friends. I really thought I was going to be able to witness another Mets clinching party. I mean, there was no doubt in my mind they would win one. IIRC it was Von Hayes who dashed my dreams.
